GLIDER

A glider is heavier-than-air aircraft that is supported in flight by dynamic reaction of the

air against its lifting surface, and it is free flight does not depend on an engine.

RULES & REGULATIONS

* Maximum 2 members per team.
* Balsa wood or chloro-plaster gliders should be used for the competition.
* Range i.e., the distance will be the glider stays in the air will be considered.
* Second endurance i.e., the time the glider stays in the air will be considered.
* Then depending upon the glider design the best candidates will be selected.
* Judges decision will be the final.

Glider
Glide your talents by endeavor your knowledge of
designing the glider. Glider aircrafts are heavier-than-air
that are supported in flight by the dynamics reaction of
the air against their lifting surfaces, and whose free flight
does not depend on an engine. Mostly these types of
aircraft are intended for routine operating without
engines though engine failure can force other types of
aircraft to glide. Some gliders have engines for extending
thier flights and some have engines powerful enough to
launch.

Rules:
@ Max. 2 members per team
@ This events consists of 2 rounds, first will be
the qualifying round and
then the final round.
@ Final judgment will be based on material used,
range and endurance.

A glider is one which is capable of gliding in air without any propellant. The distance a glider can
travel depends solely on its aerodynamic design. Gliders are imparted with energy by usually
dropping it from a height or by any external medium.
Rules and Specifications
The glider should be made of wood or plastic. The length of the glider should be within 30 cm. or 1
foot. The wing span should also be within one foot on 30cm. The launch pad (rubber band
catapult) will be provided. The glider should not have any other source of energy to propel itself
(i.e., IC engines, motors are strictly prohibited). Any type of wood can be used. Weight can be
added for efficient balance. Maximum of two members can form a team.
Event Format
Round 1
In the first round, participants will launch the glider by hand. Two attempts will be provided. The
glider should land within the drawn boundary. At the end of the first round the top 10 teams will
qualify for the next. Distance will be measured. The average of two distances will be the final
distance.
Round 2
In this round, the teams launch the glider using the catapult. Time of flight is taken into account.
Two attempts are provided. Glider can travel in any direction. The average time for both attempts
is taken as the final time. The winners and runners-up will be rewarded. In the case of a tie, the
better design will get the prize. Participation certificates will be provided to all contestants.
