Does it make any diffrence whether it in in disk 1 or 2 because i guess we have to copy that
IOS image either in disk 1 or 2 to bootflash:
I need to copy that image in bootflash:

The VXR is a different beast. And I haven't played with this model for 7 years now.
Can you try the "SET" command?

Hi Arun,
The command to USB-boot from ROMmon is: boot usbflash0:filename.bin
Like I've said before, I haven't touched a VXR for awhile, but (can anyone correct me), aren't
you suppose to boot "c7200p-kboot-mz.124-4.XD5.bin" first?

Hi,
USB card but from Rommon it isn't going to be recognized, we need at least to recover the
router to get it working.
Please check the following:

1- Format the flash card and download the image on this again. (Format to be done using
another system).
2- Try the following steps:

how to TFTP the IOS image

into it.
To connect a PC terminal to the console port, use the RJ45toRJ45 rollover cable, and
either the RJ45toDB25 female DTE adapter or the RJ45toDB9 female DTE adapter
(labeled "TERMINAL").

Attach a terminal or PC with terminal emulation to the console port of the router. You can
use HyperTerminal or putty. If you do not have the software, you can download it here:
http://tinyurl.com/2r4w

And select the putty.exe for your OS.

Use these terminal settings:

9600 baud rate

No parity

8 data bits

1 stop bit

No flow control

Refer to these documents for information on how to cable and connect a terminal to the
console port or the AUX port:

Cabling Guide for Console and AUX Ports

Connecting a Terminal to the Console Port on Catalyst Switches

Connect a Terminal to the device

You need to have a tftp server, just in case you do not have it, here is a link to it:

http://tftpd32.jounin.net/ (Is better to have the latest version, since some of the
oldest have issues of file size, and some IOS images are pretty big)

To upgrade the IOS image into the Router please follow this steps:

Using tftpdnld:

All commands are to be in UPPER CASE

ROMmon1>IP_ADDRESS=X.X.X.X

(the IP of the device)

ROMmon2>IP_SUBNET_MASK=255.X.X.X (of the device)

ROMmon3>DEFAULT_GATEWAY=X.X.X.X (same IP as the computer)

ROMmon4>TFTP_SERVER=X.X.X.X (same IP as the computer)

ROMmon5>TFTP_FILE=(FILE NAME IS CASE SENSITIVE)

ROMmon6>TFTP_CHECKSUM=0

ROMmon7>tftpdnld (in LOWER case)

Then it will ask for a confirmation (press Y).

ROMmon8>reset.

Using XMODEM:

ROMmon2>confreg 0x3920

Open HyperTerminal or putty

Use these terminal settings:

11500 baud rate

No parity

8 data bits

1 stop bit

flow control=hardware

ROMmon3>xmodem cfs 115200 iosimagefile.bin (change this with the correct file name)

Press the ENTER key, and answer yes.

Once it is done and the Router has rebooted:

If it asks for any password or username, please type them in)

Router>en

Router#>conf t

Router(config)#config-reg 0x2102

Router(config)#line con 0

Router(config)#speed 9600

Router(config)#exit

Router#write mem

Router#reload

You can see this procedure at:

Hi Arun,
Just eject the disk2: and reinsert after removing any dust on the disk and try on next time if
face this issue but believe me the best option is to always try with internal bootflash\supboot
for 72xx,76xx,65xx chasis.
I had also seen that bootflash images are deleted but it doesn't allow to copy new image as
space is still being used by the deleted image.
To remove all the deleted file from bootflash use squeeze bootflash. This will free up the
space and remove the deleted file.
