November 2004, contract work for LVE as the Project Safety Officer in Bristol at Felton Airbus UK
airport, construction, installation and commissioning the Fuel Systems Testing Facility for the new
Airbus A638 aeroplane.

CONTRACT WORK: PEL PROJECT M ANAGEMENT (PPM) M ARCH 2004 TO DECEMBER 2004
March 2004, contract work for PPM in Dublin Southern Ireland, as Site Project Safety Officer working
on the construction development for the new shopping complex. Responsibilities cover all safety and
security related issues for the project, which covered implementing site safety management systems
ensuring compliance with current Irish Health and Safety legislation and implemented all contractors.

PORTEC RAIL PRODUCTS (UK) LTD 2003 – 2004
March 2003, I accepted the appointment of Rail Contacts Health and Safety Manager within Portec Rail
Products, the main responsibilities; assisting the Managing Director and acting as the focus for the
development of the safety management system (SMS) internally and externally, this consists of
developing and implementing the Contractors Assurance Case (CAC). Liaison with Network Rail and
enforcement agencies and other external bodies on Health, Safety and Environmental issues. Complete
risk assessments in order to assure compliance with current health and safety legislation and company
policies. Establishing trends of accidents, incidents and audit results and level of hazards correction and
recommend improvements as appropriate.
Enhance employee’s safety awareness through implementation of the Safety Management Programme
and dissemination of Safety Legislation. February 2004, changes to the organisation structure and
responsibilities changed resulting in the position made redundant
TRACK MATERIAL AGENCY (TMA) 1998 - 2003
Following redundancy with BRB, obtained the position of Safety Officer with Track Material Agency
(TMA) which trades as a division within the European Metal Recycling (EMR).
This position was responsible for developing and delivering TMA’s Core Contractors Safety Case to
Railtrack Plc. This role was also responsible for developing and implementing TMA’s core safety
management system, which also including vetting contractors method statements and risk assessment,
which also included the appointment of potential sub contractors to undertake work on behalf of TMA on
Railtrack's infrastructure.
In March 2003, changes to the national contact between Railtrack Plc and TMA was reviewed, which
resulted in the position made redundant.
BRITISH RAILWAYS BOARD (BRB) 1977 – 1998
During the time employed BRB, held various positions, at various locations though out BRB
infrastructure, which included training of staff for all grades in various actives from safety related topics
and local safety instructions and procedures. I become a team member for the implementation BS5750
(ISO 9000) nation wide following achieving certification. I was promoted to the position of Safety
Manager within Railfreight Distribution Traction & Rolling Stock Organisation located at Crewe Chester.
This position was responsible for implementing the safety management systems and for ensuring
compliance with the appropriate legislation and local procedures / instructions.
Following BRB being sold to the private sector, I was made redundant and left BRB.
