The Carbon, high percentage of Manganese and the special heat treatments make
the metal matrix totally austenitic

AUSTENITIC STEELS: MAIN CHARACHTERISTICS AND

THEIR APPLICATIONS
CHARACTERISTICS:
High toughness: they can absorb most of the energy coming from the shocks
They are able to harden a thin layer of the surface after compression
Good hardness while working

APPLICATIONS:
They are mainly used where the abrasion is due to shocks : jaw plates and blow bars,
cones for the Primary crushing and the recycling, shredders .

The high hardness and the good toughness are obtained from special heat treatments
that transform the metallic structure into a martensitic matrix.
Characteristics: High hardness and good toughness
Applications: they are mainly used to cast IMPACTORS for Primary and Secondary
crushers and for RECYCLING

COMPOSITE MATERIALS
The ceramic
composite materials are harder than the
monometallics and are more efficient in terms of wearing and
durability
The ceramic inserts are used with the following materials produced in Garavaglia:
. Low alloy steels: DUR2 (max length of the blow bar 1500 mm)
.Chrome Cast Irons: DUR550 and DUR251 (max length of the blow bar 1200 mm)

Garavaglia is proud to announce that has launched a NEW GENERATION of ceramic
inserts.
