Normal Weather Expectation

Setting a Non-Work Day in Primavera P6 Calendar

Nonworking days can be indicated in your calendar in Primavera to account for anticipated adverse weather
days.

Abnormal (Inclement) Weather Impact Tabulation and Calculations

How many weather days are owed from this example?

An adverse weather day can not be considered for the days in the red box above because the activities
were not impact by more than 50% of the work day.

Calendars
P6 allows the creation and assignment of calendars to each resource and each activity. These calendars
define the number of available work days and or work hours in each calendar day. It is also possible to
specify national holidays, an organizations holidays, project-specific work/non work days, and resource
vacation days. P6 uses the calendar assignments for scheduling and tracking activities. An activitys type
determines whether the activity uses the calendar of an assigned resource or its activity calendar.
Three calendar pools are defined: global, resource, and project. The global calendar pool contains calendars
that apply to all projects. The project calendar pool is a separate pool of calendars for each project. The
resource calendar pool can be a separate pool of calendars for each resource. It is possible to assign either
resource or global calendars to resources, and can assign either global or project calendars to activities.
The ability to link resource and project calendars can be linked to global calendars. Then, if changes are
made to a global calendar, the changes apply to all resource and project calendars that are linked to the
modified global calendar.

Weather Considerations
5. The contract requires that normal weather days be anticipated in the CPM. Assume that normally
Saturdays will be used as a make-up day. We will block out additional Wednesdays if there are not
enough Saturdays available in the month.

Weather Considerations Continued
Example:
The contract requires to anticipate seven (7) inclement weather days in July. Because there are potentially 5
makeup days (Saturdays) in July 2009, we will block-out 2 additional days (7/7, 7/14, and 7/21).
