REPLACEMENT OF 6B STAGE 2
BUCKETS
APPLICABLE TO
All MS6001B users with stage 2 buckets with part
numbers 979E0615, 110E2901, 112E6333, 115E6727,
119E6350, 91-026622 and 199E6762.

PURPOSE
To inform users of MS6001B units of the recommended
replacement interval of second stage buckets with part
number 979E0615, 110E2901, 112E6333, 115E6727,
119E6350, 91-026622 and 199E6762. Hot Gas Path
(HGP) intervals are defined in GER 3620.
This revision adds additional units and supercedes the
original revision TIL1411-2

BACKGROUND DISCUSSION

The life limiting mechanism for these parts is creep of

which is a hours based phenomenon. For starts based
machines please track equivalent factored hours and
adhere to the recommendations in Figure 1 for hours
based limitations. Other recommendations for starts
based machines are listed in GER 3620.

RECOMMENDATIONS
GE recommends affected hours based units with second
stage bucket part number 115E6727 in 6571, 6581,
6BeV, or uprated models replace the buckets at the 1st
HGP. For customers with spare sets of these buckets,
a repair option will be available to extend the life of the
bucket to a recommended replacement at the 3rd HGP.

Maintenance
Customers with spare stage 2 buckets with part
numbers 115E6727 have an option to send their parts in
to a qualified GE service shop for a bucket modification
to part number 119E6762 that has a recommended
replacement interval of 3 HGP intervals. Please contact
your local Energy Services Representative for further
details.
Additionally GE has completed a stage 2 bucket design
modification that will be available 2Q03. The part number
119E6350 will supersede part number 115E6727. The
recommended replacement interval of part number
119E6350 is at the 3rd HGP.

GE has recently engaged in an effort to update the lifing

recommendations for the 6BeV and 6581 stage 2 bucket
components. The recommended replacement interval for
hours based machines is listed in Figure 1. A visual
inspection of the z-lock, airfoil and shroud should be
performed at every Hot Gas Path interval by a qualified
GE specialist. The recommendations for starts based
machines are defined in the GER3620.
