VALUE STATEMENTS
I value love for others
One of the most important ways to show Christ in our lives is to show His love to others. I make a
point of looking for the positives in people instead of dwelling on the negatives. I realize that some
individuals are more difficult to get to know, however I still do my best to show love to them the way
Christ shows love. Jesus says love one another as I have loved you (John 13:34). Just as Jesus loved
all those around Him and entered into fellowship with them, I go out of my way to make those around
me feel accepted and loved.
I value encouragement
I am determined to help others realize their value and their potential. Everybody has worth and they are
able to do great things when somebody believes in them. Therefore, I make sure to give at least one
encouragement to each person that I interact with. Every person is an equally loved child of God,
nobody holds higher value in His eyes. It is important to me to make sure that each person I engage
with feels supported, encouraged, and full of worth.
I value unity
Unity is reflected in how I treat people and how I practice problem-solving. I enjoy working in a
conflict-free environment which can be accomplished through valuing each other's opinions. I work
well with others and I am very good at mediating disagreements. The Apostle Paul preaches to agree
with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in
mind and thought (1 Corinthians 1:10). I do not dwell on conflict, instead I forgive others and ask for
forgiveness when I am in the wrong.
I value honesty
The base of every good relationship and strong work place is honesty. I make a point of living a life of
high integrity by being honest in everything I do. I work hard to be honourable not only in front of
God, but also in front of people (2 Corinthians 8:21). Lying lips cause hurt, therefore only honest and
good words come from my lips. If I ever make a mistake and hurt somebody around me with my
words, I am the first to confess to them and ask them for forgiveness.
I value humour
True joy comes from loving Jesus above all and others above myself. I keep this in mind when I
interact with others around me. God has given me the ability to make others around me smile by my
words and actions. I like to show joy to others through the act of humour. When somebody is having a
bad day, not only will I encourage them but I will also do my best to brighten their day with humour.
The ability to make others laugh brings me joy and God takes delight in joyful hearts.
I value learning

I am so thankful for the ability to learn and for the complexity and capacity of our minds. Therefore, I
do not take the opportunity to learn for granted. I take every opportunity I can to better myself through
keeping an open mind. I enjoy learning from others and I am never quick to disregard what others have
taught me. I take responsibility for my personal development and I work hard to ensure that my
knowledge is not limited.
I value perseverance
Perseverance is reflected in how take on tasks and responsibilities. Being on sports teams my entire life
I know what it means to persevere through pain, struggle, and adversity. When a problem arises I never
give up, instead I do my best to find a solution. Many life experiences have made my faith strong and I
know that the Lord will not abandon me in times of trouble (Psalm 27). I look to Him for my strength
to persevere and that is why I will never stop trying.
I value prayer
God has given us the privilege to be able to speak to Him whenever we want. In the book of
Philippians it says, Do no be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God (Philippians 4:6). I am constantly thankful
for everything that God has done for me and I am very concerned for other's well-being. Therefore,
prayer is something that I do daily to thank God and to ask Him to intercede in people's lives. There is
great power in prayer and I love to spend time talking to my creator.
I value service
I good way to help and to show love to others is through acts of service. Serving others brings me joy
because I am helping them with their day. I do not serve for recognition, instead I serve others because
I know that they are in need of some help. Jesus tells us to serve our brothers and sisters and so I make
a point of volunteering at different organizations as much as I can. God has blessed me with an able
body and mind so I will use it to help others who need an extra hand.
I value respect
Not only do I respect those in authority as God has told us to do, but I also do my best to show respect
to everybody around me no matter their status. I respect others by learning what their needs, opinions,
strengths, and weaknesses are and interacting with them based on those things. I do not show disrespect
by talking behind people's backs or talking down to people. In everything I say and do I want to build
others up and show them that I respect their opinions, needs, and authority in certain matters. This is
key to building good relationships with others.
I value teaching
Just as I love to learn, I also want to share my knowledge with others. I want to learn so that I can
readily answer questions and help others learn as well. God has given me a heart for teaching and so I
work hard to ensure that I am sharing my knowledge with others. Jesus is the greatest teacher and He
has called us to go out and share our knowledge of the gospel to others. Just as I intend to share my
earthly knowledge to others, I also intend to teach the good news through my actions and my words.
I value worship
I am so thankful for everything that God has done for me and for others around me, the only way I
know how to thank Him is through worship. I don't just worship Him in Church every Sunday, I
participate in worship on a daily basis. I praise Him for all that He has done and for all that He is. I am
so grateful to be serving such an amazing God and I tell Him that every day. Even through challenging
situations I still praise Him because I know that I can trust Him to get me through.
