The students are suggested to read recent journal on textile, to view different web site and if
possible they can take information from different textile processing industry.
Course Description:
1. Sewing:
a.
Seam properties, types & usages, Stitch types, properties & usages, Principles of lock
stitch & chain stitch formation, Sewing machine feed mechanism, needles, Sewing threads, Sewing
problem and remedies, Sewing machines, Work aids in sewing, Simple automatic machines.
b.
Alternative methods of joining fabrics - Welding, Adhesive, Fusing, Moulding and their
comparison.
2. Trimmings: Discussion on label and motifs, zippers, Buttons, lining, Hook & loop fastening,
shoulder pad, lace braid & elastic, performance of trimmings.
3. Pressing and finishing: Objects, types, methods, & International care labeling codes.
4. Folding & Packing: Types, methods, equipment, symbol and markings.
Course Format:
The course will include a combination of class, discussion, lecture and student assignment (home work,
quiz/Class test, presentation and semester final examination.)

1. Academic misconduct:- All students are expected to complete assignments by themselves, plagiarism

2. Class Attendance: - Attendance is a mandatory. Basis for awarding marks for class participation and

3. Class Test: - It is a classroom test and the schedule is pre-announced by the Head. Short or MCQ type
question will be provided to answer. Materials of the class test would be announced before the scheduled

trouble in understanding the handout or study material or requirement for the course during office hours.
