INTRODUCTION

On the time scale of a human life, some ecosystems may seem

stable. The appearance of stability is often misleading, because
ecosystem

and

communities

are

always

changing.

Sometimes,

an

ecosystem changes in response to an abrupt disturbance, such as a

severe storm. At other times, change occurs as a more gradual
response to natural fluctuations in the environment.
Ecosystems are constantly changing in response to natural and
human disturbances. As an ecosystem changes, older inhabitants
gradually die out and new organisms move in, causing further
changes in community. This series of predictable changes that
occurs in a community over time is called Ecological Succession.
Sometimes succession results from slow changes in the physical
environment. A sudden natural disturbance from human activities,
such as clearing a forest may also be a cause of succession.

II.

OBSERVATION

Last year, November 2014, Our teacher told us to have an

observation on Ecological Succession by putting soil in a place
it either direct or indirect sunlight and record what we have
observe in a week. Then I started my observation last third week
of December.
In my first week of observation, I choose to put my pot in
direct sunlight, and I observe very tiny plants that grow in my
pot. They are nine all in all. And I observe also ants and
termites crawling in my pot.
Second week, I observe that some plant in my plants in my pot
are died and other plants are already tall.
Third week, I observed that there are eight plants grow in my
pot some are already big and others is so small. And few ants are
crawling in side my pot.
Fourth week, I observed that the plants is already tall and
there are also tiny newly plants that are still growing.

Fifth week, I observed that there are 12 plants in my pot;

some are already big and tall than other plants that are still
young and tiny. And there are lots of small insect in top of the
plants.
Sixth week, the plants are look like a healthy and big. Some
tiny plants from fifth week are gone but the plants that remain
are so healthy and already big.
Seventh week, I observed that the plants look taller; there
are seven plants in my pot and lot of insect staying there.
Eight week, the plants are already big, tall and healthy and
there was a web of spider and some mosquitoes flying in the pot.
Ninth week, the plants are still big and healthy and there are
also newly grow plants that are still growing and there is spider
web and fly on it.
Tenth week, I observed that the plants in my pot are so tall
and healthy, one of the plant have already a flower and the
plants look so mature, lot of termites and ants also staying and
finding food under the soil in the pot.

III. CONCLUSION
I can say that if we put a top soil or humus in our pot where
we can plants our flowers it will grow fast and look so healthy
and if we place it in a direct sunlight it look so healthy and
green. And if we didnt water the plants, the soil is so dry, and
some tiny plants will die. If it is morning and evening a lot of
insect are staying in the pot but it is noon and sun is so hot
there was no insect found, they will hide or find new place where
they feel cool and comfortable to stay.
