Export to CAx systems

Export data to Cax systems per click on the "Export to Cax systems button.

Product data
To export product data, first create a target folder in the Explorer and name it
according to your wishes. This folder is the basis for the export. Then select the
interface you want to use for output of the data. Default selection is "No product
data". The data of all selected modules are written to a file and stored in the target
folder in the format you specify.

Graphics data (DXF)

To export graphics data, a file is generated for every selected module per selected
view. All files are collected in the "Drawings" folder. This folder is saved to the
target folder.
The file assigned to a specific order number is found in a text file that is stored in
ASCII format in the target folder The term "Reference" is included in the filename.
You can use this file to program an automatic import to your CAD system.

Macros, Macro libraries

Macros and macro libraries are only available for the SIMATIC products. Check
mark the respective box to file data according to the product family, regardless of
the modules selected in the product structure. You must specify the product family
with a check mark in the respective box.
The "Macros" directory is stored in the target folder. Data are written to this
directory as follows:

Macro library EPLAN

This directory contains a complete EPLAN project with all information on the
module of product family. It also holds supplementary information, e.g. the
terminal assignments of complex modules, a pin-out register for analog
modules, as well as a descriptive text block for the front view presentation.
In the "Macros" directory, a separate subdirectory with the ending ".p" is
created for every product family (e.g. S7_300.p). All files belonging to this
project are copied to this directory. You must copy this directory to the "P"
directory of EPLAN. The project is then available in EPLAN.

Macro library EXF

For a description refer to the macro library EPLAN
In the "Macros" directory, a separate subdirectory is created for every product
family. The directory name starts with "EXF" (e.g. EXF_S7_300). The macro
library of the selected product group is filed in this directory in EPLAN
exchange format.
You can load this file into the respective Cax system.

Macro library DXF

For a description refer to the macro library EPLAN
In the "Macros" directory, a separate subdirectory is created for every product
family. The directory name starts with "DXF" (e.g. DXF_S7_300). A file in DXF
format is stored in this directory for every circuit diagram page of the macro
library for the selected product group. The filename consists of:
"=Simatic_"Product family"+"order no."_"lfd no..
for example, the "1" in Lfd no stands mostly for the "PLC Overview"
presentation, e.g.: "=Simatic_S7_300+6ES7_331_7NF00_0AB0_1.DXF".
You can load these files into the respective Cax system.

Macros EPLAN
The directory contains all presentations of the modules of a product family as
window or page macros.
In the "Macros" directory, a separate subdirectory is created for every product
family. The directory name starts with "M" (e.g. M_S7_300). In subdirectories
of this directory all macros of the module of the selected product family are
stored in module groups.
You must copy the macros to the folder "M" of EPLAN. The macros are then
available in EPLAN for further use

Click on "Apply" to confirm your entries. In the pop-up dialog box, enter the name
of your target folder.
Find help on the respective interfaces in the online Help (?) menu and in the
documentation included with your Cax system.

Editing Data In EPLAN Version 5.3

Before you can edit data in EPLAN you must copy the exported directories and
files to another folder. During the export of the macro library project, the project
files are saved to a folder with the extension .p in the target folder. You must copy
this folder to the EPLAN project folder (<Drive>:\EPLAN4\P).
Macro files are stored in the target folder. You must copy these files to the EPLAN
macro folder (<Drive>:\EPLAN4\M).
Note: The source of faulty display of the macro library pages in EPLAN might be
found in the parameter assignment of the project. In this case, check and adapt the
parameter assignment.
A pin-out table is included for some module in the contact image area. This is a
configuration help. If you need to view the contact image you can delete the pin-out
table.

Importing ECAD data in EPLAN (ECAD-Partslib)

You must configure the import of ECAD data in EPLAN in the ECAD Import view:
Enter the order number in the "As comparison field" box.
Mark the "Split ECAD names in" options box.
You must select the option "EPLAN designation1/2/3 and remark 1".
Note: The configuration file is stored in the folder <Drive>:\EPLAN4\O or in a lower
level folder.
In EPLAN product management, the imported data records of the automation
technology are stored in the directory Module\General, in the folder SIEMENS.
Under Utility systems > Parameter > Company > Product management you must
set the parameter "Type of graphic presentation of the module group" to "Elements
only" in order to be able to assign an imported article to the equipment in EPLAN.

Tip: Project structure in EPLAN

We always recommend you create the following pages in EPLAN:

You can construct a rack using the front views in a 1:1 scale. This allows you to
identify equipment in the switch cabinet quite easily.

Editing The Data In SIGRAPH Version 7.1

Importing Circuit diagram pages in SIGRAPH

Before you can edit your data in SIGRAPH you must export the macro library as
DXF. You can then import the individual pages to SIGRAPH via the menu File >
Import > DXF.
For some of the modules a terminal assignment table is available in the area of the
contact plan. You can use this as a help for your configuration. If you need the
contact plan you can delete the terminal assignment table.

Importing ECAD data in SIGRAPH (ECAD-Partslib)

A right-click in the module catalog editor opens a context sensitive menu in which
you can select the menu command "Import from ECAD".
In the pop-up window you can now select the ECAD file (filename extension .vgr)
for import.
