Dr. Ranier Adarve.

He teaches at the Univ. of Minnesota and has taught at the


Oregon Health and Science University, Univ. of the
Philippines and Emilio Aguinaldo College. Dr. Adarve was
the Recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award given by the
American Dental Educators Association for his outstanding
contribution and innovation in dental education.
He is an Associate Professor at the Univ. of Minnesota and is
Course Director for Pre Clinical Fixed Prosthodontics, an
active member of the American College of Prosthodontists
(ACP), and the American Dental Education Association
(ADEA). He is the most published author in MedEdPORTAL, a
publication service that promotes educational scholarship to
medical and dental educators.
Dr. Adarve is a practicing Prosthodontist, a consultant of the
MinnesotaBoard of Dentistry for Prosthodontics and a liaison
to Central Regional Dental Testing Center (CRDT). He
lectures locally and internationally and runs a study club for
general dentists.

Josef Maria Karlos Bringas, DMD, MS
Dr. Bringas graduated from the University of Detroit
School of Dentistry with a Masters in Endodontics in
2005. He also holds degrees in Dentistry from the
University of Detroit Dental School, Indiana University
(Prosthodontics), and obtained his DMD from the
University of the Philippines (1991).
Dr. Bringas is a recipient of the American Association of
Endodontics Foundations Educator Fellowship Award and
is currently a full-time faculty member in the University of
Detroit Department of Endodontics.

PROSTHODONTICS
Josephine Esquivel-Upshaw, DMD, MS
Dr. Esquivel-Upshaw earned her dental degree from the
University of the Philippines in Manila in 1991 and her
Masters of Science in Prosthodontics from the
Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She has also
written numerous research and scientific articles in
international peer-reviewed journals in the field of
operative dentistry and Prosthodontics. She is a
contributor in several chapters of the dental materials
textbook Phillips Science of Dental Materials. Dr.
Esquivel-Upshaw is currently Associate Professor,
Restorative Dental Science at the University of Florida and
has been the recipient of several research grants.

Danel CN Chan, DMD, MS, DDS
Dr. Chan received his DMD (1979) from the University of
the Philippines and his MS (1984) and DDS (1988) from
the University of Iowa. He also received a Certificate in
Operative Dentistry from the University of Iowa (1984). Dr
Chan is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists
and the Academy of Dental Materials. He was a councilor
and President of the Academy of Operative Dentistry and
serves on several editorial boards. In Oct of 2008, Dr.
Chan was appointed Associate Dean and Professor in
Restorative Dentistry and Washington Dental Service
Endowed Chair in Dentistry.

Alexander Y.Y. Chung, DMD, PDDS, MDSc, Dip. ABO
Dr. Chung obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree
at the College of Dentistry, University of the Philippines. He
earned his Postgraduate Diploma in Dental Surgery in
Conservative Dentistry from Hongkong University. He
received his Masters in Dental Science in Orthodontics
from St. Louis University at Missouri, USA. He then earned
his fellowship of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada,
Diplomate of American Board of Orthodontics and became
fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontics. He is
member of the Ontario Dental Association, American
Association of Orthodontics, and a College of American
Board of Orthodontics Diplomat. Dr. Chung is a member of
the editorial board of the OrthoTechniques Journal and a
premier provider of the 3M Incognito Hidden Braces.

FOR THE PROSTHODONTIC PATIENT
JOY LUA, DMD, MS
Dr Lua is a graduate of the University of the Philippines
College of Dentistry Class of 1985. She earned her
degree in Dental Laboratory Technology with emphasis
on Crown and Bridge in Illinois shortly thereafter. Dr
Lua graduated with a Master of Science degree for
Prosthodontics at the University of Minnesota and was a
full time faculty member of the Department of
Restorative Sciences there for 11 years. She was directior
of Preclinical Fixed Prosthodontics. She is currently in
private practice and is a partner with the Center for
Prosthodontic Care PLC in Edina, Minnesota. She is an
active member of the American College of
Prosthodontics, American Dental Association, Academy
of Osseointegration, Minnesota Dental Association, and
the Southside Comprehensive Seattle Study Club.
Presentations and research have focused on treatment
planning, dental materials, dental anatomy, instructional
techniques, tooth color and shade matching and
laboratory techniques.

REGINA (Ginny) DIMAYUGA-MINUTELLO, DMD, MS
JAMES MINUTELLO, DMD, MS
Dr. Ginny earned her DDM at the University of the
Philippines. Wanting to expand her knowledge in
Periodontics, she began her residency in Periodontics at the
University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
and obtained a Masters degree and Certificate in
Periodontics in 1988. Her published research involve
Immunology, specifically on how inflammation relates to
Periodontal Disease. She was Asst. Professor at Loma Linda
University School of Dentistry for a brief period and
simultaneously established a private practice limited to
Periodontics. While at Loma Linda University, she
participated in research that investigated periodontal wound
healing using varied types of periodontal treatments.
Dr. Minutello is Board Certified by the American Board of
Periodontology. Her special interests include Cosmetic Soft
Tisse Grafting and Laser Periodontal Treatment.

Herman Dumbrigue, DDM, FAAMP, FACP
Dr. Dumbrigue received his DDM degree from the University
of the Philippines. He trained in Hospital Dentistry at the
Philippine General Hospital. He completed a Prosthodontic
Residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and
a Maxillofacial Prosthetics Fellowship at the University of
Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Dumbrigue served as an Asst.
Professor at the University of Florida where he received the
Educational Leadership Award. He was a tenured Associate
Professor at the Baylor College of Dentistry where he also
served as Asst. Director for the Advanced Education in
General Dentistry Residency Program. He has authored over
30 scientific articles and abstracts in dental and scientific
journals, and serves on the Editorial Review Board of the
Journal of Prosthodontics. He is a Fellow of the American
Academy if Maxillofacial Prosthetics and the American

Maria Angela Gonzalez, DMD, MPH, MScD
Dr. Gonzalez is currently a dental lecturer at the Dept. of
Restorative Dentistry at the University of Malaya. She
obtained her DDM from the University of the Philippines in
1981 and holds a Master of Science in Dentistry from the
University of Indiana as well as a Master in Public Health
from the Univ. of the Phil. Her area of expertise is in
Operative Dentistry, Dental Materials and Dental
Education.
