Read the essay, Is a Picture Worth a 1,000 Words, from Pirate Papers. Then, read and consider
each category in the rubric below (this is the rubric for Rhetorical Analysis essays), circle what
scale you believe the essay fits into for each category, and then write a brief explanation of your
decisions.
For example:
If you read the essay and believe it has a clear thesis and that the body of the essay provides
adequate evidence to support that thesis, then you would circle the Satisfactory block in the
Thesis and Development of Claim category. Next, explain why you believed the thesis was
clear, and why you found the evidence adequate, but only adequate.
