Artistic Gymnastics Head Coach

St Caths Gymnastics program has become one of the stand-out programs within Sydney and
due to such success, has grown significantly in the last few years.
We are currently seeking an Artistic Gymnastics Head Coach to oversee and coach our
recreation and levels programs and to continue the quality learning environment that St
Catherine's strives for.
The successful candidates will be employed on a permanent part-time basis, with a competitive
salary being offered!
The success candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

Technical knowledge of Artistic Gymnastics principles


Previous experience working in an independent girls school or possess knowledge of
the IPHSA and IGSSA gymnastics pathway
At least 5 years experience teaching Gymnastics with experience also developing
talented students
Current Coaching Accreditation
Excellent customer service
High level of self-motivation and ability to work as a team
Support for the Christian ethos of the school

Primary purpose of position


To organise, promote and deliver a varied programme of coaching suitable for St Catherines School,
involving the set up and dismantling of equipment and ensuring participants safety and well-being
throughout the session.

Major responsibilities
Management & Administration
1)
To provide appropriate information, records and statistics as required.
2)

To undertake administrative duties as required by the role, particularly in terms of registers


respecting confidentiality at all times.

3)

To attend meetings as and when required.

4)

To notify the Director of Extra-Curricular of any issues or complaints that arises.

5)

For representative IPSHA and IGSSA gymnasts, you will work with the Director of Sport. This
will include selecting teams for competitions and training programs and arranging entries.

6)

For all enrolment processes and club programming you will work with the Director of ExtraCurricular. This will include developing interest and participation into the program and sport.

Artistic Gymnastics
7)
To plan and provide high quality coaching and instruction to students and up to date advice.
Analyse training sessions and competitions with the other coaches to develop and plan
individuals progression. This includes breaking skills and performances down where
appropriate, analyse skills and make improvements to assist in achieving the talented students
best.
8)

To provide advice and support to students and coaches.

9)

To work with other coaches in the preparation, running and evaluation of each session and
each competition, during term and non-term time.

10)

To attend relevant Galas and Open Meets as well as officiating at sporting events, as and when
required.

11)

To ensure sessions and competitions meet governing body and sporting requirements.

Other
12)
To supervise all users ensuring that Health and Safety standards are maintained.
13)

Co-ordinate set up and performs safety checks of equipment for each session and dismantles
equipment after each session.

14)

To mentor and develop other coaches as required as their direct line manager.

15)

Undertake other duties as required by the headmistress.

Teaching and administrative responsibilities


16)
In 2015, the load will be 0.85 which covers term and non-term time.

Selection Criteria:
The success candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

Technical knowledge of Artistic Gymnastics principles


At least 5 years experience teaching Gymnastics with experience also developing talented
students
Current coaching accreditation
Current judging accreditation
Excellent customer service
High level of self-motivation and ability to work as a team
Support for the Christian ethos of the school
