The Court confers with counsel regarding a letter the Clerk received from Anthony R. McCartney of the
Associated Press requesting certain trial exhibits. The Court directs the Clerk to notify Mr. McCartney that
he may obtain the lodged exhibits (CDs) from the Records Department and may request copies of the
admitted trial exhibits from counsel should they wish to provide them. The Court confirms that providing
such documentation does not violate the Courts Order, for this sole purpose, regarding counsel
communicating with the media prior to the completion of the trial.

UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT

CENTRAL DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA
CIVIL MINUTES - TRIAL
The Court confers with counsel regarding Jury Notes 4 and 5 and provides a response to the Jury, which is
approved by counsel. Jury Note 6 is received indicating that a verdict has been reached.
In light of the verdict, counsel for the Gaye Parties make an oral request for a permanent injunction. The
terms are not proposed orally. The Court directs the Gaye Parties to file a motion in support of the oral
request by March 17, 2015, with the Thicke Parties to file a response by March 24, 2015. The Court will
then determine whether a hearing will be conducted.
The Court inquires of counsel for the Thicke Parties whether any issues remain with respect to the request
for declaratory relief. Counsel for the Thicke parties states that, although no new issues are presented,
their position is that the Court is to make an independent determination of the issues presented at trial. No
further detail is provided as to the scope or the basis for the request. The Court directs counsel for both
sides to present simultaneous briefs as to what issues, if any, should be addressed due to the declaratory
relief action. These briefs shall be filed on or before March 17, 2015. Upon receiving them, the Court will
determine whether reply briefs will be needed, and whether a hearing will be conducted.
IT IS SO ORDERED.
