Iwouldsayyesandno.Thatwhichmostpeoplecommonlythinkofwhenthey
encountertheterm'spirit',thosesortofspiritscertainlydonotexist!However
intheoriginalanddeepermeaningoftheterm'spirit',theycertainlydoexist.
Theterm'spirit'arosewithinthecontextofmysticdiscourses.Ithasovertime
beenheavilymisinterpretedduetoNaiveRealism(http://bit.ly/duT3V9 )
andthencooptedforpoliticalpurposesorforfantasyandentertainment.Itis
thesemisconceptionsthathavepervadedourcultureandwhichmostpeople

spiritsexist,andplentyofevidencethatnothingthatmightbecalledaspirit
canbeseen,heard,orotherwiseinteractedwith.Allreportsofsuchthingscan
bedismissedasfanciful,orputdowntoknowneffectssuchaselectromagnetic
stimulation,orbrainconditioningsuchasthecreationofparanoiadueto
standingsoundwaves.
However,theuniverseisaprettycomplexplaceandthereisalotwedon't
knowaboutit.Itisentirelyplausiblethattheuniverseweexperienceandisa
constructofourminds(singularlywithotherpeoplebeingconstructedbyour
minds,orasagroup)orsomeotherconstructwhichwecanexperienceby
proxiesthroughourbodies(abitliketheMatrix).Thereisnoreasontothink
this,butnoreasonwhythiscannotbethecase.Ontheotherhandifyouthink
thatthephysicalworldisfullyunderstood,thenyouarelivinginafantasy
worldofyourownmakingwhichhasnothingtodowiththerealrealitywe
