Exam Format of MRCPI General Medicine

As we already know that MRCPI General Medicine has three

parts named as:
MRCPI Part I General Medicine
MRCPI Part II Written Exam
MRCPI Part II Clinical Exam
Earlier, we have discussed separately the entry requirements to
each; however in this blog we will discuss the exam format of
MRCPI General Medicine.
Exam format of MRCPI Part I General Medicine
The exam format of it includes 100 questions of single best
answers (SBAs). The format of SBAs is where we have one
statement and 4 options for that. We have to select the single
best answer among them. It should be noted that there is no
negative marking to that so a candidate can perform each
question without worrying that the wrong answer will deduct its
mark.
Exam format of MRCPI Part II General Medicine Written
Exam

It consists of two papers having 75 SBAs in each that makes a

total of 150 SBAs. The total time duration of this exam is of 5
hours; which makes 2.30 hours on both sessions. There is no
negative marking on this paper too so the candidate has the
liberty to perform each and every question as there is 50-50
chance that his/her answer will be correct.
