i. Annual membership dues are $20. Join/renew today!
ii. Please consider becoming a Sustaining Member for as little as $5/month. Easy to
set up through Act Blue (see www.houstonstonewallyd.org for link), and it gives
the organization a steady stream of income to depend on each month.

III. Old Business


a. Candidate Endorsements
i. Due to candidate requests, endorsements are postponed for the August general
membership meeting.
ii. The deadline for questionnaires is August 1.

IV. New Business


a. Anti-HERO Petitions
i. Required certificate signature count is 17,260.
ii. The opposition delivered over 5,000 pages of signatures. Not all the pages are
completely filled out.
iii. The City Secretary has 30 days to certify the signatures as valid.
iv. If certified, the City Council will vote on August 13 on whether to put the
referendum on the November ballot.
v. Training sessions for reviewing the petitions for fraud are held every Tuesday
from 7-9 p.m. at Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church (2025 W 11th
Street).
b. Houston Forward Times Town Hall about HERO
i. Monday, August 4, 6-8 p.m., at CWA Hall (1730 Jefferson)
ii. We will have a planning meeting on August 2 at noon, location TBD. The
purpose is to gather supporters to attend the meeting and speak for the
ordinance.
c.

HERO Social Media Promotion


i. Visit and promote www.HOUequality.com for FAQs on the ordinance.
ii. Also visit www.equalrightshouston.com, a site prepared to fight the ballot
referendum, should there be one. Donations should be made through there.

d. Director of Communications
i. Position is currently open.
e. July Social Event
i. Dinner at Cafe Brasil, Wednesday July 23, 7 p.m.
ii. Senator John Whitmire has RSVPed that he will attend.
V. Announcements
a. AIDS Foundation - Camp Hope
i. Packing necessities this Wednesday, 4-6 at AIDS Foundation (6260 Westpark Dr
Suite 100, Houston, Texas 77057).
b. Wendy Davis is opening her Houston campaign office at 1111 Holeman St. this Saturday,
July 19 - 5:30-7:30 p.m.
c.

Harris County Democratic Party is holding a county convention for organizing precincts
and other workshops on August 23.
