Grounding
The SSA-340A must be grounded using the grounding wire of the three-wire
power cable. The grounding resistance must be 100 $2 or less.
When the SSA-340A is used with units that have power supplied from
outlets other than the AC outlet provided with the SSA-340A, use the
equipotential terminal to ensure that each unit is at the same
potential.

ASSEMBLY
Mounting the Cable Arm
(1) Orientate the tip of the cable arm toward the rear of the main unit,
insert it into the arm mounting hole on the probe holder, and turn
the tip of the arm toward the front of the main unit by 180' to
mount the cable arm.

(1) Hang the probe cable on the hook of the cable arm to
being caught by the casters.

(2) Connect the connector of the probe to the connector on the main
unit. When connecting the probe, insert the probe connector into
the connector on the main unit and turn the lock handle clockwise
(NLOCK1fdirection) to secure the connector.

7.1

CONNECTING AND STORING OPTIONAL DEVICES


Setting the Ultrasound System
Perform setting for the functions of PRINT switches A and B and setting
for allowing the magneto-optical disk unit to be controlled by the
diagnostic ultrasound system.
The settings on pages "SERVICE" and "OTHER" of the preset menu of the
diagnostic ultrasound system are described below:
(1) SERVICE menu
(a> Perform the setting for the functions of PRINT switches A and B.
There are four possible function settings each for PRINT
switches A and B as shown below.
Set the functions according to the application.
(Function selection)
.. . The B/W printer (or camera) operates in black/white
mode and the color printer (or camera) operates in
color mode.
(B/W)
... The B/W printer (or camera) always operates
regardless of the mode.
(COLOR) . . . The color printer (or camera) always operates
regardless of the mode.
(MO)
. .. Allows data to be recorded onto the magneto-optical
disk.
(AUTO)

(b) Perform setting for the control of the magneto-optical

Mounting the Peripherals Rack


The procedures for mounting the peripherals

rack are described below.

(1) Before mounting the peripherals rack, connect the cables (signal
cable, control cable, power supply cable) for all the optional
devices to be mounted to the panel of the main unit as shown below.

a. Connect the "37pin-Dsub" connector of the signal and control


cables (cable (C)) to the [COLOR PRINTER] connector of the
diagnostic ultrasound system and tighten the screw to prevent
the connector from being disconnected.
b. Connect the straight-type connector of the power cable to the
AC outlet connector of the diagnostic ultrasound system.
Caution:

Overload will occur if either the color printer or


black/white printer draws its power from the VCR
panel. Refer to subsection 3.1 on page 2 to
connect the power.

a. Connect the "15pin-Dsub" connector of the signal and control
cables (cable (D)) to the [B/W PRINTER] connector of the
diagnostic ultrasound system and tighten the screw to prevent
the connector from being disconnected.
b. Connect the straight-type connector of the power cable to the
AC outlet connector of the diagnostic ultrasound system.
Caution:

Overload will occur if either the color printer or


black/white printer draws its power from the VCR
panel. Refer to subsection 3.1 on page 2 to
connect the power.

Remove the probe holder.

(3) Mount the frame to the support below the operating panel of the main
unit on the right and left with 2 retaining screws (A) and 2 spring

through the notch on the far side of the rack.
(4) Place rubber caps into the two holes for the retaining screws on the
left side.

(5) Slide plate (A) to the middle rack of the frame and secure it with
the 4 retaining screws (B) from below.

The DIP switch for RS-232C DATA IN does not need to be set.
<2> Turn ON the main power supply SW at the upper left on the
rear.
(12) Connect the power cable to the power input of the color printer.
(13) Turn ON the power and check the functions of the printer. If
horizontal misalignment is seen on printout from the TCP7070, remove
the top cover of the printer to perform centering adjustment (refer
to the next page).
If vertical misalignment is seen on the printout, use the hand SW
supplied with the TCP7070 to perform adjustment (see below).
When the UP1850 is used, it is not necessary to adjust the display
position.

<5> Return the PWB lifted up in step <3> to its original

display position is misaligned to the right, perform step
<3> again and slowly turn VR830 on the [RGBJ PWB clockwise
until the position is correct.
<6> When the horizontal display position has been adjusted,
reverse steps x2> and <3> to secure the PWB to the top cover
with screws.

Mount the color printer on the base, being careful with regard to
the connection cables.

For the TCP-7070 (Mitsubishi), mount 4 plates (D) onto the base
with retaining screws (D) (2 each, 8 total) and then adjust the
feet of the printer to mount it.
Caution:

When mounting the TCP-7070 (Mitsubishi), confirm that


the feet of the TCP-7070 are one step each. If they
are two steps each, remove one step from each foot and
tighten the remaining steps with the supplied short
screws.
(Be sure to use the supplied screws. The
original screws used for the two-step feet are too long
and will come into contact with the circuits in the
printer, causing a short circuit, if they are used to
mount the one-step feet.)

For the UP-1850 (Sony), mount 2 plates (E) onto the base with
retaining screws (D) (2 each, 4 total) and then adjust the feet of
the printer to mount it.

(15) Slide the base onto which the printer has been mounted into the
frame.

(16) After sliding the base in half way, temporarily secure it to the
retaining hole in the middle with 2 retaining screws (E) to bundle
the cables.
Caution:

Be sure to perform this temporary securing.

(3) After completing cable connection, mount the VCR on the base of the
main unit, pass the fixing bands through plate (A) as shown in the
figure below, and secure the VCR using the bands.
*Be careful with regard to the routing of the cable.
(4) Attach the rating plate supplied on the rear or side of the main
unit.

the figure below, and fix the imager using the bands.

Connecting the Footswitch


(1) Connect the footswitch to the connector for the footswitch at the
front of the power supply.
(The settings at the time of shipment from the factory are "A: PRINT
A" and "B: FREEZE".)

(2) To switch the settings of the footswitch, remove the panel cover and
main panel and the knobs on the sub-panel (four) and switch the
rotary SW on the panel PWB.
For each footswitch, A and B, the settings are "1. FREEZE", "2.
PRINT A", "3. PRINT B", and "4. RECIPAUSE".

(3) For the panel cover and main panel, remove the 15 screws from the
bottom as shown in the figure below.
(4) For the knobs on the sub-panel, remove the five setscrews.

(1) Remove the knobs for hanging the cable (two), rubber cap, and
retaining screws (A) (two each) and remove the rear cover from the
main unit.
(2) Remove retaining screws (B) (four) to remove the fan plate from the
main unit.
* Be sure to disconnect the power CNN of the fan.
