Anne Blaufus BIO
Medical Teams International has a long list of experienced disaster response medical
professionals who can volunteer on a moment's notice. Anne Blaufaus, an ER nurse with
Providence Hospital in Portland, is a member of our first-in team that left last week. When
she received the call for help she was in the midst of packing for her trip to the Cayman
Islands. Anne canceled her non-refundable vacation to volunteer her time to serve in Haiti.
Over the next month, her colleagues at Providence will step in to help by giving up their
vacation time to cover Anne's work shifts. Anne has been on many first-in teams with
Medical Teams International. Her first team was to Honduras in 1999 after Hurricane
Mitch. Since then, she has served on disaster response teams in Liberia, Uganda and Sri
Lanka. This will be Anne's second trip to Haiti, the first was in 2004 in response to
Hurricane Jeanne. She is the manager of the ER nurses at Providence Hospital in Portland
and that she has 4 children of her own. Attached are photos of Anne Blaufus.
