The University of Dar es Salaam invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to

1.

(a)

JOB TITLE: Laboratory Scientist III ( 1 post)

Department (Molecular Biology and Biotechnology)

(b)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Applicants should possess the following academic and professional
qualifications.

B.Sc. in relevant field or Advanced Diploma or equivalent from a

recognised institution.

(c)

MAIN DUTIES:
Assists in all technical duties requiring a higher degree of planning
and design competence in the areas of students practical/projects;
Assists in research and development activities; Assists in consultancy
activities;
Assists in maintenance of facilities; and
Performing any other duties assigned by ones reporting officer.

(a)

JOB TITLE: Insurance Officer I ( 1 post)

(b)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Applicants should possess the following academic and professional
qualifications.
Bachelor degree/Advanced Diploma in Insurance or equivalent.

(c)

At least four (4) years relevant working experience in a similar

position.

MAIN DUTIES:

Assists in arranging adequate cover for existing general

policies;
Helps in studying insurance need at the University;
Understudies seniors in all aspects of Insurance and claims at the
University;
Helping in the initiation of new insurance coverage where they do not
exist;
Handling insurance claims arising out of the risks of fire,
group/personal accident, workmen's compensation, cash-in-transit,

public liability, motor vehicles, marine, fidelity guarantee, burglary

and all risks; and
Performs any other duties assigned by ones reporting officer.

(a)

JOB TITLE: Technician IV (1 post)

College of Humanities (Archaeology Department)

(b)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Applicants should possess the following academic and professional
qualifications.

MAIN DUTIES:

Diploma in Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, or Physics.

Any experience working with archaeological materials will be an
added advantage.

Carries out specified tasks connected with research, laboratory

practical, students' projects, consultancy and services under close
supervision;
Assists in the repair and maintenance of laboratory or workshop
facilities;
Assists senior staff in relevant fields of operation; and
Performs any other duties assigned by ones reporting officer.

(a)

JOB TITLE: Clerical Officer I (1 post)

(b)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

(c)

Form VI certificate with two principal passes in Arts subjects and

must have a credit pass in English at O level plus a Diploma in
records management.

At least four (4) years relevant working experience in a similar

position.

MAIN DUTIES:

Maintains file movement record cards;

Looks for files and collects them whenever required;
Returns files to the cabinets and arranges them in proper order
Keeps ready files marked B.U. for the Supervisor;
Weeds out inactive files i.e. old closed volumes, files for people who
have died, resigned, retired and those who have been dismissed or
terminated;
Checks files in the cabinets periodically and ensures order and
neatness; and
Performs any other duties assigned by ones reporting officer.

JOB TITLE: Laboratory Engineer II (1 post)

Department - Chemical and Mining Engineering

(b)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

B.Sc. in relevant field or Advanced Diploma or equivalent from a

recognised institution with registration as Graduate Engineer

At least four (4) years relevant working experience in a similar

position.

MAIN DUTIES:

(a) JOB TITLE: Assistant Lecturer (1 Post)

UNIVERSITY OF DAR ES SALAAM SCHOOL OF EDUCATION:
Department of Educational Foundations and Curriculum Studies
(b) QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a minimum GPA of 4.0 or a B+ average at Masters
degree level and an undergraduate degree with an overall GPA of 3.8
or higher. They must be potentially good academically.
MAIN DUTIES

Carries out lectures, seminars, tutorials and practicals for

undergraduate programmes;

Sets, invigilates and marks undergraduate examinations;

Assists senior staff in lectures, seminars, tutorials, and practicals for

postgraduate programmes;

Supervises projects and practical training for undergraduate students;

Conducts research and publishes results;

Carries out consultancy and public service;

Undergoes postgraduate training to PhD level;

Participates in relevant workshops and conferences; and

Performs any other relevant duties assigned by ones superior.
