In Happy Birdday, Tacky!, Goodly, Lovely, Angel, Neatly, and Perfect plan a
Perfect Surprise Birdday Party for their good friend Tacky the Penguin.
Host your own birdday party with the materials in this kit. Tackys birdday is
the day he hatched, but you can have a Tacky party any day of the year!
What youll need:
Invitations
Print out as many copies of this page as you need and fill in the details required.
Fold each page in half on the green dotted line and then in half again on the yellow
dotted line. Give or send invitations to all of your friends!
Party Ideas
Read the party ideas sheet and plan which activities youll have at your party.
Name Tags
Print out as many copies of this page as you need on Avery #5164 labels, or on white
paper. If you use paper, have a roll of tape or safety pins handy on party day so your
guests can wear their name tags. Have your friends make up their own penguin
names!
Party Games
Print out the maze, drawing sheets, stick puppets, and other pages
for your guests. You can have these activities as part of the
party fun, or send them home with your guests as party favors.

Here are some fun activities to have at your Tacky party!
Dance!
Lead your guests in Tackys Flapwaddle Dance!
Three steps left

and three steps right.
Do it on your tippywebs to get some height.
Flap your flippers like youre gonna take flight.
Stomp three times and say, ALL RIGHT!
Story Time!
Host a read-aloud of your favorite Tacky stories. Dress the storyteller in a loud
Hawaiian shirt and add a penguin beak or hat to complete the costume. For an
added treat, consider serving Fishy Ice Cream while everyone is listening to the
stories: Top a cone or a dish with a scoop of ice cream and lay Swedish fish candies
on top of the scoop.
Penguin Waddle!
Walk like penguins by squeezing your knees together, arms straight at your sides,
with hands pointing straight out from your thighs at the wrists like little flippers.
Take tiny penguin steps and waddle forward. Who can waddle fastest without
separating their knees?

Stick Puppets
Print this page on card stock with a color printer. Carefully cut out Tacky and his
friends. Then tape the top of a stick (an unsharpened pencil or wooden chopstick
works perfectly!) to the back of each penguin so that most of the stick
appears below each figure. Put on a penguin play!

Tacky Treat Sack

Whats Halloween without a sack for your treats? Print this page and the one
following it on card stock using a color printer. Cut out the shapes as indicated.
Stack your sack pieces with the plain sides of the paper facing in. Staple or tape the
outer edges together, leaving the top open. Next, take the strap piece and
staple the two short ends to the two top edges to make a looping handle.
Trick-or-Tacky-treat! (The sack is also a great place to store your stick puppets!)
