Allianz chooses IBM Data Center

IBM Managed Data Center will host Allianz infrastructure for a 5 years period
Bucharest, June 22, 2011 - Allianz Tiriac Asigurari, one of the leading integrated financial
services providers worldwide, chooses IBM Managed Data Center in Romania to move it's
infrastructure for a 5 years period. Allianz has decreased costs by 15%, reduced its data center
footprint by 20% and anticipated a full return on investment (ROI) within the next three years.
Allianz-Tiriac Asigurari SA (Romania) provides insurance and reinsurance services. With
approximately 151,000 employees worldwide, the Allianz Group serves more than 76 million
customers in about 70 countries. On the insurance side, Allianz is the market leader in the
German market and has a strong international presence.
In fiscal 2010 the Allianz Group achieved total revenues of over 106.5 billion euros. Allianz is
also one of the world's largest asset managers, with third-party assets of 1,164 billion euros under
management at year end 2010. In 2006 Allianz SE, the parent company, became the first
company in the EURO STOXX 50 Index to adopt the legal form of a Societas Europaea, which
is a new European legal form for stock corporations. Allianz SE is headquartered in Munich,
Germany.
Based on understanding of both the insurance market trends and Allianz perspective on the
importance of security of data, robustness of the business model, avoiding risks and reduce the
effects of unpredictable events IBM presents its approach to meet Allianz goals from IT point of
view.
The key trends are: responsiveness, reliability, security, dynamic business requirements and cost
and efficiency concerns. Organizations like Allianz are looking for innovative ways to manage
and adapt to continuously changing business needs with a scalable and flexible IT environment
that will help keep Allianz running without disruption.
Many organizations are balancing a variety of challenges with their storage infrastructures that
include 24/7 availability of critical mission applications and workloads; challenges of a rapidly
growing and increasingly complex storage infrastructure; increased operational costs; rising
energy expenses resulting from older equipment and inefficient technology; regulatory
compliance requirements for data retention, security and availability and multiple, timeconsuming migrations between test and production environments.
IBM proposed solution is to relocate the DS8300 and P590 already existent in Allianz Tiriac
infrastructure to the IBM Data Center and to host them there for 5 years. The proposed Disaster
Recovery Solution is an end-to-end solution including hardware, services, communication
components and maintenance for 5 years.

IBM is proposing a Data Center building already built that is in the stage of equipping with all
necessary infrastructure in order to be compliant with the highest standards in the industry.
According to IBM standards, TIA 942 and Uptime Institute, this Data Center is Level 3+.
After implementing the solution, Allianz Tiriac Asigurari will benefit from old infrastructure
usability which leads to a minimal initial investment; scalable IT infrastructure; low TCO; low
power consumption levels; SLA guaranteed by IBM for new equipments and disaster recovery
procedures and timelines improved, and continuity management for critical business systems.
