Sumangali Seva Ashrama

Sumangali Seva Ashrama is a Non-Voluntary organization and Registered under


Karnataka Societies Act 1960. This organization is dedicated to the facilitate services for
Down trodden deserted women, Orphan children and economically weaker people in the
society. S.G. Susheelamma the founder President and Smt.M.Kanthamma (Secretary)
established this in the year 1975 with its Reg.No. 212/75-76. Its distinct style of functioning
based on the principal of Gandhi-ism has made it a well-respected and well-known
organization both at the state and the national level.

Our team is made up of women from diverse backgrounds and each of them bring in a fresh
perspective and a set of skills and expertise to our team and over an extensive period of 21
years we have worked together to realize the goals of our organization.

Welcome to the Sumangali Seva Ashrama
Sumangali Seva Ashrama works for the empowerment of under privileged, vulnerable and
needy sections of the society particularly Children, Women and Youth. Our approach is to
address the health, education, environment, economic, cultural issues of the society. SSA
aims to facilitate for the self-sufficiency and overall development of all irrespective of
caste, creed and gender. SSA works in diversified activities like awareness creation,
capacity building, skill development, sustainable livelihoods, rural & community and slum
development. It also provides relief to victims of atrocities, harassment and natural calamities
like drought & floods. SSA provides free food, shelter, health, education, trainings, housing
to the needy. We focus on urban slums and remote rural areas, where vulnerability is more.
We have service minded staff members,dedicated volunteers and expertise resource persons
to take up multifarious activities for the benefit of community. We also involve Community
Leaders, PRIs and concerned Government Officials in our programs in order to establish
transparency in compliance with the principles of Good Governance and thus set itself
apart with its set norms of sustainability,scalability, accountability, credibility and effective
leadership.

Our Vision

A society where old aged live in comfort & dignity in the last
phase of life, and children get love, care, and guidance which
makes each of them a good human being in future, empower
distressed women and work to build a healthy, hunger free
world.
Our Mission

Establish care homes with Human facilities which ensure orphan children
are trained enough to lead a self dependent life.
Establish Educational institutions to provide free schooling to both BPL
and orphaned children.
To generate compassion among people, towards aged and special
children.
Establish old age homes where they get human love, care and comfort of
living, medical facilities to lead a happy life.
Ensure that women get their legal, human, social, economic and political
rights through training, rehabilitation and empowerment.
To protect human rights, ensure legal protection and support from the
respective government for the aged and children.
To form networks and institutionalize the various welfare oriented
institutions and create a platform for their sustainability.
Skill based trainings to women and youth for Livelihood enhancement.
Facilitating/Organizing Campaigns for promoting literacy among adults.
Promoting Lifestyle and Health Management systems through General
Health Awareness, Preventive and Curative medical camps , HIV-AIDS,
female infanticide and organizing special health camps for BPL
communities through Mobile Clinic Services and Primary Health Centers

Action Plan

Constructing a High School, Pre University College and a Degree College, a play
ground, auditorium, institution for job-oriented courses. All these would provide the
women and children of SSA the best of education to walk confidently along with the
competitive society and reach new heights.

Constructing an Old Age Home for hundred people, which includes all the facilities.

Building a short stay home for hundred people, which includes all the facilities.

Building a short stay home for the destitute women.

Supporting farmers who wish to grow Simaruba Plants in their farms.

Conducting health, hygiene and environment workshops and EDP

Conducting workshops for other new and small organizations.

Developing a Housing Scheme for the families Below Poverty Line(BPL)

Providing Training to promote different production and marketing through wide links.

Expanding the reach of our Mobile Clinic service to larger parts of Bangalore urban
and rural districts.

Building Toilets for each house in rural areas.

Promoting Rain Water Harvesting, Bio Diesel, Tree Planting, Wastage Management
and other Environment Friendly initiatives.

1 crore of Saplings to be cultivated across Karnataka.

Sumangali Seva Ashrama has had the privilege of being entrusted with the management of
Primary Health Center (PHC) at Cholanayakanahalli and Urban Family Welfare Center at
Palace Guttahalli. Sumangali Seva Ashrama has had the opportunity to serve more than 1.5
lakh people every year with free services like:

Sumangali Seva Ashrama has taken an initiative to provide shelter and security for
abandoned women and women in vulnerable circumstances. Within the Ashrama premises,
there are 3 Shelters where the young learn from the wisdom of the aged and old are cheered
by the sallies of youth. Together this makes up one large family at the ashrama. Our
programmes here include

Education

Sumangali Seva Ashrama since its inception in 1975 has built a strong foundation towards
education with a nursery and higher primary school in Audogodi, Bangalore to help less
privileged children brighten their future. Today we have two schools within our premises and
run a number of education programmes for adults and children which includes:
