St. Paul Lutheran Church is a congregation of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America (E.L.C.A.). It is referred to as
Borchers since Rev. Henry Borchers, who
served our congregation from 1857-1881,
advised and influenced a small group of
pioneer settlers that wanted to establish a
congregation in the area. This year we
celebrate 162 years of life and ministry in this
beautiful country setting in Southern Indiana.
We look forward to many more years of
growth and change as we seek continually to
be faithful to Gods call to mission.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is

offered at the 8:00 a.m. services on the 2nd

and 4th Sundays and at the 10:15 a.m. service on the 1st and the 3rd Sundays of the
month. Christians who believe in the true
presence of Christ in the bread and wine for
our forgiveness and salvation are invited to
receive Holy Communion.

Sunday School classes are held each Sunday for all ages at 9:10 a.m. Visitors are
welcome to attend.
HEARING ASSISTANCE: We have

head phones available for those in need of

assistance with hearing. They are located on
the table at the entrance of the sanctuary.

GIVING STATEMENTS FOR 2014 are located

on a table near the Welcome Center.
TWEENERS TRIPWe will be going to the Childrens Museum in Indy today after the late service. Please talk to Tyler Claycamp.
FIRST COMMUNION CLASSES are being held
during the Sunday School time. Letters were
mailed out to parents earlier. Please let Pastor
Steve know if your child will be attending. Teachers for the class are Pastor Steve and Susie Alstatt.
LENTEN MEALS AND SERVICES will be held
every Wednesday through March 25. Meals will
begin at 5:30 p.m., a short hymn sing will begin
at 6:50 p.m. and worship will begin at 7:00 p.m.
The theme this year is What It Means to be
Church.
PRESCHOOL SERVING LENTEN MEAL on
Wednesday, March 4. It will be a variety of
soups, hot dogs and desserts. Parents should
be at the church around 5:00 to help.
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME beings on March 8.

Ladies and girls of all ages are invited on Saturday, March 7 at 2:00 to celebrate living as
Daughters of the King in the fellowship hall.
The event will be an afternoon filled with refreshments, entertainment , princess crafts and special guest speaker Miss America 2009Katie
Stam Irk!! Invite your mom, daughters,
grandmas and girlfriends to join us for a fun afternoon. Little girls are encouraged to wear their
favorite princess dresses. Please sign up at the
Welcome Center so we can prepare enough
items. THIS IS A FREE EVENT. Any questions,

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSDuring
Lent, we will be discussing What It Means To Be
Church. We will explore the same topics which
Pastor Steve will be telling us about at Wednesday Night Lenten Services.

THE CARE TEAM FAMILY CARE FUND was

established in 2010 primarily to help families
within our congregation and immediate community who are in need of emergency monetary assistance due to a crisis situation. We have provided
monetary assistance for basic needs such as
groceries and utilities, as well as transportation
costs involved in visiting family members in major
hospitals. The Family Care Fund is currently depleted! Donations are needed to replenish the
account so funds will be available for future
needs. Please consider contributing by giving
cash or a check to: SPLC Care Team Family
Care. Please direct questions to Pastor or Trish.
SPECIAL WORSHIP SERVICES sign-up sheets
are on the Welcome Center. We need helpers
for Wednesday night Lenten services and Maundy Thursday.
RUTH CIRCLE will meet on Thursday, March 5
at 7:00 p.m. A hostess is needed. Delores
Douglass will lead the Bible study.
WINGS will meet on Thursday, March 5 at 7:00
p.m. in the fellowship hall. Debbie Herbert is the
hostess.
LUTHER LEAGUE/MISSION TRIP YOUTH will
be having a meeting on Sunday, March 8 at
12:00 p.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings. We will be
planning our Lenten Meal and Easter Sunrise
Breakfast.
FOOD PANTRY items being collected for
March are peanut butter and jelly. Please place
your donations in the basket by the main entrance or in the wooden box by the kitchen.
LAWN MOWING BID FORMS are located at the
Welcome Center. Forms must be turned in to
Charlotte Guinn or Louis Wonning no later than
March 15.
BILL NEIDINGER has moved to a nursing
home in Nashville, Indiana. He would love to

BOOK COLLECTION DURING LENTIn the

narthex, you will find collection boxes for gently
used and new books appropriate for reading
levels 1st through 7th grade. Books will be donated to Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Reading
Camp, a week long summer camp devoted to
struggling readers. Books collected will be given
to attendees to take home with them after camp,
and used to practice their skills throughout the
summer. This is a great opportunity to weed
books from your childs collection he/she may
have outgrown! If you have questions about
donating books or about the camp, contact
Susie Alstatt at 524.0947.
BLANKET MAKINGCome join us! Blankets
are made for Lutheran World Relief which sends
them to people in need throughout the world.
The group meets on Mondays at 1:00 pm and
Wednesdays at 9:00 am through March. Any

SYNOD ASSEMBLY DELEGATES NEEDED
Synod Assembly will be June 5-7 in Indianapolis. We need 1 female and 1 male delegate.
Pastor Steve will be unable to attend due to officiating a wedding on June 6. Please talk to Pastor Steve if interested.
HIGH SCHOOL SENIORSThe A. F. Robertson Trust is accepting applications for scholarships for up to $2,000 from Seymour and Trinity
Lutheran high school seniors. Applicants must
reside in Hamilton Township. Interested seniors
may pick up a cover sheet from their guidance
counselor and complete the standard application
form. Deadline to apply is today. For further
questions, you may also contact Larry Lewis.
(Hamilton Township Alumni Scholarship is a
separate scholarship that is also available.)

Ninevites all repented and God decided to spare the city. Jonah
objected to this and became even more angry when God ordered a
worm to destroy a plant that was providing shade. The book ends
with a question that challenges any who are not ready to forgive:
You, Jonah, are all worked up about a bush, but should not I be
concerned about a hundred and twenty thousand Ninevites who
do not know the difference between their right and left hands?
