Originally called the AFGHAN CITY POLICE.

Established in the year 1932 and stationed at Petlaburz Police Lines.
In the year 1957, its name was changed
to CITY ARMED RESERVE.
The sanctioned strength of this unit is 2191.
It has 8 active companies.
A Headquarters Company.
A Motor Transport Wing.
2 bands (Brass and Pipe).
Mounted Police.

Deployment of force for various law & order bandobust
duties.
Providing guards for VIPs and vital installations in the
Twin Cities.
Providing vehicles and drivers to the zones, units and
officers of the City Police.
Providing Escorts for VIPs, Treasury and Prisoners.
Participate in ceremonial parades and guard of honour.
Rescue operations in the event of natural calamities and
other disasters.
To provide training to the personnel of the City Police.
To provide striking forces and mobile squads for special
bandobusts including elections.
Management of Arms & Ammunition of the City Police.
Management of Arms Dump of the State Police.

B. Horses:
