Pilipino Star NGAYON (first known as Ang Pilipino Ngayon) is the
leading tabloid newspaper of daily nationwide circulation in the Philippines. It is written and
published in Filipino, the national language of the Philippines.
Pilipino Star NGAYON, just like its sister publication, The Philippine STAR, was established by
veteran journalist Betty Go-Belmonte on 17 March 1986, a few months after the EDSA
Revolution that toppled strongman Ferdinand Marcos and propelled Corazon Aquino to the
Philippine presidency. It caters primarily to lower income or masa readers in the country,
providing them intelligent news and opinion with decent presentation, hence its motto,
"Diyaryong Disente ng Masang Intelihente".
While Pilipino Star NGAYON is related to the Star Group of Publications, it is a separate
corporation in itself as Pilipino Star Ngayon, Inc., under the sole proprietorship of the
Belmonte family, unlike its sister newspaper, The Philippine Star, which has several
stockholders.

Innovation
Pilipino Star NGAYON led the innovation in the tabloid newspaper industry in the Philippines. It
is the first tabloid in the country to be published in full color and the first tabloid in the
Philippines to establish a presence on the Internet.

Awards
In 2013 and 2014, Pilipino Star NGAYON was awarded "Newspaper of the Year" by Gawad
Tanglaw (Gawad Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw), an award-giving
body in the Philippines composed of critics, scholars, historians, and professors from different
colleges and universities.

Abante
Una sa balita
Abante is a daily Filipino tabloid publication in the Philippines. Its office is in Manila. Its editorin-chief is Allen A. Macasaet. During theState of Emergency in 2006, operatives from the
Criminal Investigation and Detection Group tried to raid Abante's office but withdrew when
they saw that there are television crew in the area.[1] Currently this is the one of the leading
Tagalog-language tabloid paper along with Pilipino Star Ngayon and Bulgar.
Abante started publication on May 1988, the newspaper was famous by its adult column
entitled Xerex Xaviera, which also appeared on its sister paper Abante Tonite. In 2003, Regal
Films release its film based on Xerex story, it was trilogy and starred by sexy star at that
time, Aubrey Miles. In mid-2004 Xerex stopped publishing columns to give way to a shifting to
all-family paper.
