The College of Nursing (CON) is on its 10th year of service and commitment in

producing multicultural world-class graduate nurses distinct of an MSU-IIT core values. There
were five successful board passers out of six graduates who took the Nurses Licensure
Examination last June 2014. The over-all number of nursing students enrolled this year is nine
hundred three (903). CON produced one hundred twenty (120) nurse graduates as of April 2014
and about one hundred fifteen (115) took the Nurses Licensure Examination given by the
Professional Regulation Commission last November 29-30, 2014 in Cagayan de Oro City.
CON took measures to employ Outcome-based Education. In collaboration with the institute's
School of Education, series of OBE orientation, workshop and training sessions were slated in
crafting syllabi and curriculum maps to ensure better mobility and acceptability of graduates and
professionals in the region. Dr. Arlita Amapola B. Minguez, Health Supervisor II, CHED 10 was
keynote speaker during Integrating Seminar on September 12, 2014 highlighting CHED's thrust
on OBE.
CON submitted seven research papers and five poster papers to the 12th Bi-Annual InHouse Review of Research and Development Projects. The college bagged the FIRST, SECOND
and THIRD place awards and one poster presentation Special Citation. Two of CON's student
researches namely, "Wound Healing Ointments" by Delvin Marquez and "Signus Vitalis" by
Laidy Angod, Amber San, and Hanna May Fatima Bugtong, were submitted to the
TECHNOVATION 2014. The two entries were adjudged, Best Project Presentation, Best video
pitch, Best innovative project and Best elevator pitch.
CON submitted six GAD Activities/Proposals/Projects to OVCRE for Institute Research
Executive Council review. There are three ongoing collaborative research projects with CBAA,
SCS, and CASS funded by OVCRE and PCHRD-DOST. In this year's Gruppo Medica Award,
Mr. Delvin Edwards A. Marquez of MSU-IIT CON became finalist for the Outstanding
Undergraduate Thesis in Herbal Medicine by DOST-PCHRD. There are two student researches
published at Mindanao Forum 2014.
CON's research capability strategies carried out included participation to the National
Medical Writing (Part1), Phenomenological Research, Patent Drafting, Statistical Data
(Quantitative and Qualitative) Analysis, Policy Brief, Research Ethics, and Research Upgrading
and Performance Evaluation. Three CON faculty successfully defended their thesis for the
degree Master of Arts in Nursing, Ms. Veloso was awarded Best Thesis. Two of CON's faculty
namely Prof. ArtBrian S. Escabarte and Prof. John Paul Ben T. Silang presented research papers
in Malaysia and Singapore respectively. Three students research findings with implications on
public safety were disseminated and immediate actions were undertaken by Dr. Mohammad
Putting. CON's collaboration with Iligan City Mayor's Office Sagip Piitan Health Care
Initiative for the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and the City-wide Supplementation
Feeding Program research with the City Social Welfare and Development is in progress as well
as a proposed two-pronged partnership for research and extension with Samdhana Insitute and
the Pamalihi Tribal Community in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental.
CON submitted for Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the
Philippines Survey Visit for Level II on December 15-17, 2014.
