JUKE, 1970
Dear

Friends of Mexico:

You will be happy to know that thru the intervention of a firm of

local lawyers (*), the Mission has regained legal and

posessiph of the Guaymas highway frontage

, physical

property (Approx. 250'

X 250') on which are located the shells of two brick buildings.

Costs, including property payments and taxes not paid for

six

years vjere almost $500.00, (A former Mexican worker with "tEJe

Mission had been responsible for the property, but like the dog

in Aesop's Fables, who could not eat the hay, but would not let
the cow do so, he neither utilized this property for the Lord's
work, nor let us do so.'). Legal fees, as yet unpaid amounted to
$1600.00 with a 50^ discount for the Mission as a Charitable
Organization, or $800.00 net

As this is commercia^l

fees.

property with highway frontage, (a motel

is almost ready to open across the highway), it is unsuitable for

the present projects of the Mission, and will be listed "For Sale"
with several -Realestate Brokers. However, first we must take

care of the years of neglect, clean up the

and install ste^l-sash

doors and windows

property, refence it,

in one of the brick

buildings so we can have a caretaker and his family on the property,

("Abandoned" looking property brings a low price here in Mexico
just as it does in the U.S.).
We expect to pay the legal fees
out of the sale of

the property.

We would appreciate special offerings to

repay the $500.00 we

borrowed to pay property payments, taxes, etc., etc.

your thankful prayers to our God, the Most High.

Please pray too for our Daily

Also,

Vacation Bible Schools which begin

July 6th. Mrs. Bowlin has prepared fine lessons sheets and
handwork, using the missionary theme, "Kings, Devils and
Cannibalesi"
Also, a Step in the Plan of Salvation will be
taught

each day.

Thank you for your continued financial assistance

As if "by magic, the kids have dissappoared from the streets - ezcept for certain

Seventeen was the ,aagic number for the month of Novemberi The
first part of the month we held our Seventeenth Annual Pacific
Christian Convention at the Ranchito (Eastside) Church here in

Hermosillo. The spirit was truly wonderful, and good Bible messages
were preached by our newest evangelist, Bro, Jose Tinajero, Lack of
transportation cut our attendance some, even tho we worked Geneva's

old 1952 V. V/. Kombi and Oscar's 19^9 Ranchero overtime#.., V/e really
need our ov/n bus, especially to bring in the folks from the village
of La r.'iesa.

Then the latter part of the month seventeen young people from the
"Crossbearers" group formed by the youth of all the Christian
Churches in Southern Arizona came down over the Thanksgiving holidays#
They brought paint and brushes and painted the benches, pulpit,

doors and shutters of the Ranchito Church. (Now at least they all
match!) Did a good job too, and'even had time to spend a day and a
night at the beach, (Kino Bay), where we borrowed a cabana for them.
Carl Anderson, Minister, Pantano, Tucson,
and our daughter Kathy,
were the sponsors.
Sunnyside, Tucson supplied the bus, and the youth
raised their own money for expenses. The young people stayed in the
homes of the members of the Ranchito Church, and I am sure living

and eating in working class B^exican homes v/ere eye openers to them.
Geneva had "pozole" a mexican soup made with hominy, for them on
v/ednesday night when they arrived, and tacos and bean burros at
Noon on Thursday, v/hen they painted at the Ranchito Church.
Thank you for your help and prayers this year, and come down to
see

us.

supermarket, and a good sized bill at the drugstore. (I'irst time

in 25 years of married life we have bought groceries on credit.)

Thank you for your check marked "Bowlin" that we may end the
in the black. (My irritable colon, which worry drives crazy, sends
