Daddy, its almost unreal that you have left. Life is indeed a vapour. But
our solace is that your labour was not in vain. You were an epitome of
excellence in your family life, ministry and human relations. You were
robust in health till 2007 when you fell ill. Remarkably, in the midst of your
illness, you exhibited such astounding calmness and courage.
You
shunned bitterness and complaints. Like a palm tree, you stood tall and
strong in season and out of season. But the curtain has been drawn on
your final scene, and all we have left are sweet memories of you as a role
model.
You were a quiet pillar of strength and source of encouragement to your
family and all. Little wonder many called you daddy even though they
were not your blood relations.
Though your death came to me as a shock, I am comforted knowing you
lived a fulfilled life as a preacher of the gospel. I give glory and thanks to
God for all the works and lives He touched through you. The Almighty who
called you into the ministry in his vineyard has decided to call you home
in a time like this. I remember with nostalgia how under the cover and
shadow of the Almighty, we (you and your children) were travelling
through the length and breadth of this country, moving from branch to
branch, circuit to circuit, district to district as demanded by the challenges
of ministry. In all of these, God preserved you including the fatal auto
crash at Ayamgba-Kogi State on your way from Pastors meeting at GHQ
Enugu in 1998. That accident claimed the lives of majority of passengers
but your life was miraculously spared. Therefore for God to call you home
now means it is for a well deserved rest. As your first daughter, I assure
you that your legacies and testimonies will live on.
See you, Lots of Love!
Your daughter,
Amaka Udeh
It is indeed really painful to find words to suit this tribute to a very sweet
grandfather. You were a compassionate and loving grand dad, humble in
all ramifications. As the news of your demise filtered in, I thought to
myself how a man so loving and caring as you should depart in a short
notice. You always taught me the fear of God and how I will be a great
person in life. Though you have gone to be with the Lord, you will always
remain a wonderful grandfather in my heart.
The days you spent on earth was about doing good, preaching the word of
God and we are reassured that God will reward you according to your
good works as you soul repose with the saints in Heaven.
Adieu Grandpa. Adieu a Man of Peace.
Your Granddaughter
Precious Udeh
