INTRODUCTION
Entrepreneurship is the act of being an entrepreneur, which is a
French word meaning "one who undertakes an endeavor".
Entrepreneurs

assemble

resources

including

innovations,

finance and business acumen in an effort to transform


innovations into economic goods. This may result in new
organizations

or

may

be

part

of

revitalizing

mature

organizations in response to a perceived opportunity . Training


refers to the acquisition of knowledge, skills and competencies
as a result of the teaching of vocational or practical skills and
knowledge that relate to specific useful competencies.Training
has

specific

goals

of

improving

ones

capability,

and

performance.

The role of the M/o MSME is mainly to assist the States in their
effort to promote growth and development of MSMEs, for
enhancing the competitiveness of these enterprises in an
increasingly market-led economy and for generating additional
employment opportunities. In addition, the Ministry also
attempts to address common concerns of these enterprises
and also undertakes advocacy on behalf of this sector.
The formulation and implementation of policies and
programmes/projects/ schemes are undertaken by the Ministry

with the assistance of its attached office, public sector


enterprise, statutory bodies and autonomous organizations.

Scope of the study


MSME focuses on developing entrepreneurship from all walks
of life for developing new micro and small enterprises,
enlarging the entrepreneurial base and encouraging self
employment in rural as well as urban areas, by providing
training to first generation entrepreneurs and assisting them in
setting up of enterprises. The study focuses on the

programmes
and
skill
development training.This study will help to overcome the
shortcomings of entrepreneurial training and to impart the skills
more effectively to develop successful entrepreneurs.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:Small and medium enterprises play a crucial role in the
economic development of the country.They have key role in the
industrialization process and equitable distribution of national
income. MSME development institute provides entrepreneurial
training to prospective entrepreneurs. My aim is to study how
entrepreneurship is imparted to prospective entrepreneurs.

Objectives
To study about the skills imparted by MSME development
institute.
To analyze the efficiency of entrepreneurial training.
To study the methods of training.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research design:

The type of research design adopted is descriptive research.


DATA SOURCES
Research will be based on primary data. Secondary data will be
used for reference.
Secondary sources: The secondary data will be collected through
various journals and websites and some special publications of MSME.

SAMPLING
Sampling technique used is stratified sampling. The population
is divided into EDP,MDP and ESDP programmes.
SAMPLE SIZE
The sample size of the study is 45. 15 samples each from
EDP,MDP and ESDP.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
In this study structured questionnaire and interview schedules
are used as the data collection instrument .

Skills imparted.
Confidence.
Innovativeness.
Interpersonal skills.
Leadership skills.

DATA ANALYSIS

The data collected from the respondents using the research


instrument is analyzed with the help of statistical tools for the
purpose of drawing inference regarding the study.

Classification and Tabulation


The data collected will be classified on the basis of the
variables, and tabulated as per methodology in order to
facilitate analysis.

TOOLS
The tools used to analyze the data will be chi-square, weighted
average and histograms.

Limitations
The expected limitations for the study are as follows:
The expected sample size is 45 and that may be a
limitation when it comes to the analytical part of the study.
As the study is concentrated on a particular unit, the
researcher gets only a limited area under study.

Time schedule
The project is expected to take time duration of 45 days. As
the researcher has a small area under study, the time duration
is adequate to complete the research work.
