Use number sense to estimate, determine, and justify the
reasonableness of solutions involving whole numbers,
decimals, and common fractions
Evaluate integers using addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division through various rules and
models (number lines and integer tiles)
Evaluate fractions using addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division through various rules and
models (number lines, area model, Giant One and One
Hundred grid)
Evaluate and describe exponents, square roots and
common irrational numbers such as pi
Solve problems by representing and analyzing patterns
using tables, words, concrete objects, or pictures

Use the appropriate tools to measure: geoboards,
protractors, rulers, graph paper, and formulas
Analyze and compare how changing one attribute of a
geometric figure affects its area, perimeter, angle measure,
surface area, and/or volume.
