Installation and usage instructions for POWER-SeleCalc
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROTECTING YOUR PERSONAL
CALCULATION DATA
Save your file "UserPOWERData.mdb" regularly to another safe place
(e.g. network drive, diskette, etc.). Maybe your IT support assists you to
implement an automatic backup process for this file.
ALL YOUR CALCULATION DATA IS STORED IN THIS FILE!
Without a change made by you, you will find the file in the program path:
C:\Habasit\POWERSeleCalc\
Exchanging your Computer
When you exchange your PC, use the standard installation for the SeleCalc program
and copy the file "UserPOWERData.mdb" to the mentioned folder on the new PC,
replacing the file installed by the standard installation. After starting the program and
having entered the new personal key you'll find your former calculations in the tool.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT UNSUPPORTED VERSIONS
Installer packages and SeleCalc program at Windows 8, Surface Pro MS Access 2013
are at the moment not officially tested. On these operations system versions and/or MS
Access versions you will install the SeleCalc program at your own risk.

1. Introduction
POWER-SeleCalc (created by Habasit) is an engineering program to analyze the
resulting forces in the belt and the equipment and to check whether the effective
tensile force of a belt is not higher than the admissible tensile force.
Additionally POWER-SeleCalc allows to
- store the calculations made on your C:drive or local. (Please bear in mind that in
case of a defect of the C:drive you will lose the whole history. It is highly
recommended to create a back up copy time by time.)
- print all the calculations and selections made
- have the full information of each product by opening the product data sheet
and it offers a help at each step of the calculation process (currently English and
German only).
The cover letter for printout and the user interface are currently available in en, de.

2. Expiry date
The version is limited for use until December 31st, 2017. Update will be announced
by e-mail end of November 2017 the latest.

4. Installation
- Double-click the program install file.
- Then follow the screens until the installation is completed successfully.
- Start the application from the desktop icon or the start menu.
- The install wizard, based on InstallShield(R), checks installations of MS Access or
a previous POWER-SeleCalc installation.
- The tool is provided as a set of packaged files containing the necessary software
and database files.
- If MS Access is already installed you normally need local admin rights on your PC
to install POWER-SeleCalc.
Prerequisites:
- The POWER-SeleCalc Install Wizard will search for MS Access Runtime or a MS
Access full version. If none of them is found, it will automatically open a
connection to the Habasit SeleCalc download page
http://www.selecalc.com/download.html. (There you will find the Runtime SetupWizard and the further installation instructions.)
- POWER-SeleCalc 5.0 supports the following platforms:
Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional,
Windows Vista, Windows 7
- Memory (RAM): > 64 MB
- Disk: > 80 MB free disk space available
5. Removal of POWER-SeleCalc
Important:
- To be sure to save the database of previously issued calculations copy the
database "UserPOWERData.mdb" to a separate location first.
- Start the installation file again and confirm the removal during the dialog that
follows.
- If you are asked whether to delete files, those are shared with other applications,
do not have them deleted.
- Another way to remove POWER-SeleCalc in a XP, Vista or Windows 7
environment is going via Start menu -> System -> Software -> add/remove
programs and choose POWER-SeleCalc.
Additional information/instructions when MS Access 97 is already installed:
If you already have installed MS Access 97 and POWER-SeleCalc and you want to
install MS Access 2000, MS Access XP (2002), MS Access 2003, MS Access 2007
or MS Access 2010, you need to run an update installation of POWER-SeleCalc.

(The program code file is related to either MS Access 97 or 2000 / XP / 2003 / 2007
/ 2010). The calculation data is stored separately and runs in both environments.

6. Start the program

When you start SeleCalc for the first time, you will be asked to enter your personal
settings and send the data online to Habasit to receive a personal key, which will be
sent to you by e-mail.
Copy this key from the e-mail (ctrl+c), start the SeleCalc program, go to the topic
"enter personal key" and paste the key into the entry field (ctrl+v).
Afterwards you can begin your work with SeleCalc.
7. Start calculation
- Choose a company name from the dropdown menu or add a new company by
clicking on the New customer icon. The properties of the customer can be
edited using the Edit customer info icon. This data will be used for the cover
sheet of the printout.
- Open a previous calculation by clicking on the Open project icon.
- If you want to create a new calculation click on the New project icon.
