TOPIC: Holidays
TYPE OF LESSON: acquired information
STRUCTURE: Travelling vocabulary
FUNCTIONS: - making suggestions/ recommendations;
- expressing the result of a suggestion/ recommendation;
- talking about holidays / camping.
OBJECTIVES: by the end of the lesson, Ss will be able:
- to talk about the topic of the lesson;
- to understand the global meaning of what they listen and read;
- to read a text for specific information and general understanding.
LESSON AIMS:
1. to introduce new vocabulary related to topic (travelling vocabulary)
2. to get the students interested in matters concerning travelling information;
3. to make students interact and share thoughts and feelings;
4 .to facilitate reading;
5. to get feedback on the comprehension of the text
SKILLS: reading, listening, writing, speaking, vocabulary skills.
STRATEGY METHODS: conversation, dialogue, problematical situation, exercises, explanation, observation.

ACTIVITY 1 (warming up)
AIM: to introduce the theme of the lesson
PROCEDURE: T makes informal conversation (greetings, absents, how are you?, weather) and checks Ss
homework (if they had one). As a warming activity T asks Ss some questions about holidays/ camping (Do you
enjoy holiday? What types of holidays do you know?( Teacher draws a spidergram on the board). Have you
gone camping? / Would you like it ? Why/Why not? / What facilities would you expect to find on a campsite? /
What are advantages / disadvantages of camping?).

ACTIVITY 2 (lead-in)

AIMS: -to attract students attention on the topic;


-develop vocabulary skill
PROCEDURE: T puts the word CAMPING on the board and Ss are asked to think of as many words as
possible related to the theme to form a spidergram.

ACTIVITY 3
AIM: - to practise useful vocabulary connected to camping
PROCEDURE: Teacher gives students some worksheets with pictures that show items related to camping.
Students are encouraged to work in groups and have to imagine that they are going on a campsite. Each group
has to share a suitcase. There is only enough room for five items from those in the pictures. They have to decide
and choose five items that they will need to pack. For each group teacher gives a sheet with useful language.
The students representatives are asked to come in front of the class and present their choosing. The teacher
walks around acting as controller and assistant.

ACTIVITY 4
AIMS: - to listen the article Go camping for missing information
- to skim the text to extract specific information
- to facilitate reading;
PROCEDURE 1: Ss are asked to read the summary and listen to complete with the missing information. The
unknown words are explained by the teacher and Ss put them down.
PROCEDURE 2: Teacher tells students that they are going to read the first and the last sentences form each
paragraph about different campsites to specify the main idea of each paragraph. After that they have to find in
which site/ sites would they recommend for someone who needs childcare facilities, a good rest, wants to play
video games, enjoys riding, wants to go camping in winter, etc. (reading task, part 4, page 120).

AIM: to evaluate Ss work
ENDING THE LESSON:
PROCEDURE: The teacher asks students about their mood and gives them smilies that illustrate the way they
feel at the end of the lesson.
