Rail fastening system

for concrete sleepers
System W 14

System W 14
with Skl 14 tension clamp
Simple, reliable and safe.
Fully automatic track-Iaying possible.
Proven and successful throughout the world.
DESIGN

The rail rests directly on the concrete sleeper, only separated by

an elastic rail pad.
The spring arms of the tension
clamp, which is W-shaped when
viewed from above, reliably hold
the rail on to the concrete sleeper
in a spring-actuated connection.
The rail is laterally guided by the
angled guide plates. These form
a gauge-true rail channel. The
forces introduced through the rail
are transmitted directly to the
concrete sleeper via the angled
guide plates without exerting
bending or shear stress on the
sleeper screw.

Rail tensioning and creep

resistance

The rail is reliably held in a

spring-actuated connection
by the two spring arms with a
spring deflection of approx.
13 mm and a toe load of approx.
210 kN. This ensures the
requisite high creep resistance
of the rail, which prevents the
dangerous fracture gap in
welded rails. At the same
time, this achieves a sufficient
stiffness of the track grid.

The fastening system has additional stiffness as a result of the

middle bend of the tension clamp,
which projects above the rail foot
(steep curve of the spring characteristic). This prevents overloading of the spring arms and hence
plastic deformation. The middle
bend also serves to protect the
rail against tilting.

Preassembly

Gauge adjustment

All the fastening components can be

manually or automatically preassembled
at the sleeper factory. The only work
remaining at the construction site is
inserting the rail and tightening the system.
Fastening components can neither be lost
during transport nor during track laying.

A gauge adjustment of 10 mm in steps of

2.5 mm is available as standard.
Electrical insulation

Gauge

The rail fastening system W 14 is completely electrically insulated. No additional

insulating components are required
between the tension clamp and the rail
foot.

Assembly

The sleeper screw is loosened by 2-3 turns.

The tension clamp is pushed on the rail
foot and tightened with a torque of approx.
250 kN. A simple work step which requires
no special training. Assembly can be carried
out using simple commercially available
power wrenches or automatic screwing
equipment.

The Vossloh rail fastening system requires

no regular maintenance.

All components can be replaced, also the

dowels.

Height adjustment

S 49

The Vossloh rail fastening system W 14

can be adjusted in height by using height
regulation plates. This is also referred
to as frost wedging in many countries.

Protection against tilting

Any uplift or tilting of the rail which may

occur during maintenance of way or in
tight curves is absorbed by the middle
bend after the small air gap (between
the middle bend of the tension clamp and
rail foot) has been overcome. Permanent
deformation of the spring arms is therefore
excluded.

cellentic
Use of cellentic is possible. cellentic is a
German registered trademark of Vossloh
Werke GmbH. Further registrations are
pending in over 70 countries.

Different rail profiles on the same sleeper

Different rail profiles, e.g. 60 E1, 54 E 1

and 49 E 1, can be used on the same
sleeper with the same track gauge simply
by exchanging the angled guide plates.
