BAB I

PENDAHULUAN
1. Background
Alcohol is a term used to refer to ethanol, which is also called "grain alcohol" and
sometimes for drinks containing alcohol. This is because ethanol is used as abase material on
the drink, not the alcohol, methanol, or other group. Alcohol is one of a group of organic
compounds formed hydrocarbons by the exchange of one or more hydroxyl groups with the
hydrogen atoms in the same amount; The term extends to various results that react exchange
neutral and contains one or more alcohol group (Dorland, 2002).
According to the MUI fatwa on alcohol
1. Alcohol and Derivatives
2.

Khamar is any intoxicants, good drinks and others. Haraam.

Drinks are included in the category of beverages containing alcohol or ethanol

(C2H5OH) at least 1%.

3. Drinks including alcohol or category is unclean.
4. Beverages containing ethanol under 1% as a result of fermentation is unlawful
engineered on the basis of preventive, but not unclean.
5. Drink made from the juice of the tape with a minimum ethanol content of 1%
including khamar category.
Ethanol is not a pure compound derived from industrial alcohol or is sacred.
Referring to the MUI Fatwa No. 4 in 2003: "There should not be eating and using food /
beverages that cause flavor / aroma (flavor) of objects or animals are forbidden". It is better
to prevent the effects of (preventive) to like something forbidden, as they were presented by
chairman of the MUI Fatwa Commission, KH Ma'ruf Amin; Al washilatu Ilal haramun
unlawful; everything is the way to haram is haram. So this is the difference we as Muslims,
have an identity to take no part in generating a putridity / badness.
Liquor or khmar is a product produced through a fermentation process using yeast (yeast
Sacharomyces Cereviciae), on material containing starch or high sugar. The process of
fermentation is a process that has been known since many years ago. At the time of the
Prophet's life, he forbade his companions to consume fruit juices older than 3 days, or when
the condition of the juice is bubbling (froth). Based on the research of experts, it turns out
that fruit juice has been outstanding for more than 3 days, then the alcohol content
(ethanolnya already more than 1 percent).

Based on this fact then the MUI Fatwa Commission set a limit on the alcohol content (as
a single compound, ethanol) is used as a solvent in food products is 1 percent. For Muslim
consumers, which is a fermented beverage that produces alcoholic beverages is forbidden for
consumption.

BAB II
PEMBAHASAN

1. Definition
1.1 Alkohol
Alcohol is a term used to refer to ethanol, which is also called "grain alcohol" and
sometimes for drinks containing alcohol. This is because ethanol is used as a base material on

the drink, not the alcohol, methanol, or other group. So also with the alcohol used in the
pharmaceutical world. The alcohol is intended is ethanol. Actually alcohol in chemistry have
a sense more broadly. In chemistry, alcohol (or alcohol) is a term that is common for any
organic compound that has a hydroxyl group (-OH) is bound to on the carbon atom, which he
himself bound to a hydrogen atom and atomic or other carbon.
Alcohol is used in the solution of the drug, usually used as a solvent in the mix.
Solvents are here used to dissolve existing active substances in the drugs, so that active
substances that can dissolve and have the same dose in each tetesnya. This is necessary
because if the medicine is not perfect and there are soluble active substance that settles in the
bottom of the bottle can cause drug doses in the solution to be inappropriate and could hurt
the consumer itself.
As the above explanation, the function of alcohol in medicine is as a solvent.
Therefore, we need to understand, what distinguishes between the role of alcohol as a solvent
and alcohol as the wine.
1.2 Cough
According to Weinberger (2005) cough is an explosive ekspirasi provides protective
mechanisms of normal to clean the trakeobronkial branch of the secretions and foreign
substances. People are more likely to seek treatment in case of prolonged intrusive activity so
batuknya a day or suspect cancer.
All kinds of cough:
1. Dry cough (non productive)
2. Phlegm cough (productive)
To treat coughs depending on the type of cough that suffered.
In general cough will contain one or more of the following components, namely an
expectorant (helps to facilitate removing the phlegm through coughing reflex) and
meudahkan removing phlegm through coughing reflex) and Antihistamines (substances to
prevent or attenuate allergic action). There is also a pharmaceutical manufacturers that add
with an antitussive (cough silencer substances), whether that comes from Narcotics, and who
is not a narcotic. Lately there is also the added material Mukolitik (diluent viscous phlegm),
and Surfactant (ingredient deterrent melekatnya the phlegm in the respiratory tract and the
walls are expected to streamline expenditure phlegm through coughing reflex).

In pharmaceuticals, the drug has many forms. There is a pill, tablet, solution,
suspension (solids in liquids), emulsion (a liquid in the liquid), injection, and others. Drugs
that we understand as a remedy that has alcohol content that is a drug in the form of a
solution. An example is Woods ', Vicks Formula 44, OBH Combi, Benadryl, Alphadryl
Expectorant, Alerin, Caladryl, Eksedryl, Inadryl hinggaBisolvon.
2. Alcohol In Islam
We need to know in advance, the wine is everything that is intoxicating. The evidence
for this is the words of the Prophet sallallaahu ' alaihi wa sallam,

"Every wine is strong. Each of the heady surely illegitimate. "
(Narrated by Muslim, no. 2003, from Ibn ' Umar)
So, God (cause) of why the wine is as intoxicating. If the gods are lost, then the
pengharamannya were lost. Because according to the rule "al hukmu yaduuru wujudan wa
illatihi ma'a ' adaman (law there are views of the presence or absence of God)". The God in
the prohibition of wine is heady and God is derived from the Quran, Sunnah and consensus
(consensus of the scholars of the Muslims). " (Majmoo ' Fataawa wa Rosa-il Ibn '
Uthaymeen, 11/195, Al Syamilah)
Therefore, the alcohol is used as a solvent and bucharesters were not unlawful. It is
also not that easy for us to consume alcoholic drug while not drunk. On this subject, many
scholars argue that consuming alcoholic drug ruling makruh. It is based on the consideration
of the clergy against the kebermanfaatan of the alcoholic drug consumption.
Meeting of the MUI Commission in 2001 concluded that liquor is a drink containing
alcohol for a minimum of one percent. For prudence, it is advised to leave the alcoholic
content of alkoholnya if the remedy above one percent or by replacing drug-a drug that has
the form of a solution of alcohol with tablets or suspension, but with the same active
substance.

3. The reason alcohol consumption

examples of drugs that use alcohol as a solvent is bromheksin. Solubility in bromexin
drug dissolved in alcohol to dissolve. Why the substance is not soluble in water and are
soluble in water? This is caused by a similar polarity or similar. the substance to be dilarut in
the water must be polar. bixtro metofaan is non polar so cannot be dissolved in the water.
4. Advantages and disadvantages of alcohol
4.1 Advantages:

a.
b.
c.
d.

As solvent
As antibacteria
As cleaning skin
As pengawet

4.2 Disadvantages:
a. Haram in islamic to drinking
b. Danger for human example kardiavaskuler, pregnancy, hepar etc
5. Solution for disadvantages
Exchange medicine from liquid to tablet or suspension and emulsi. dan If patient will
liquid, apoteker can give information about medicine use under 1 % alcohol .

BAB III
PENUTUP
1. Conclusion

In the pharmaceutical sciences, medicine has many forms. There are tablets,
pills, solutions, suspensions (solid in liquid), emulsion (liquid in liquid),
injections, and others. Drugs which we understand to be a drug that has an
alcohol content that was the drug in solution. An example is Woods', Vicks
Formula 44, OBH Combi, Benadryl, Alphadryl expectorant, Alerin, Caladryl,
Eksedryl, Inadryl hinggaBisolvon. Alcohol is used in the solution of the drug,

usually used as a mixture in a solvent. Here solvent used to dissolve the active
substance in the drug, so that the active substance is soluble and has the same
dose in every drop. This is necessary because if the drug does not dissolve
completely and there is an active substance that settles in the bottom of the
bottle can cause drug dose in solution become incompatible and can harm
consumers themselves. As described above, the function of the drug is alcohol
as a solvent. Therefore, we need to understand, what distinguishes between the
role of alcohol as a solvent and alcohol as Khamar.

We need to know in advance, khamr is everything intoxicating. The evidence is

the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam,

"Every intoxicating is khamr. Each must be unlawful intoxicating. "
(HR. Muslims no., 2003, from Ibn 'Umar)

Therefore, the alcohol used as a solvent and small amounts are not
forbidden. It is also not that easy for us to consume alcoholic drug although not
drunk. On this, many scholars argue that taking the legal drug alcohol makruh.
This is based on consideration of the scholars of the usefulness of the alcoholic
drug consumption.
MUI Fatwa Commission meeting in 2001 concluded that the liquors are
alcoholic beverages that contain at least one percent. For prudence, it is
advisable to leave the drug alcohol if the alcohol content in excess of one per
cent or by replacing drugs that have the form of an alcoholic solution or
suspension with a tablet, but with the same active ingredient.

Can be concluded that the alcohol used for drugs if the drug is used for
the outside, then the law should be as long as it brings benefits to the treatment,
and in the opinion of some scholars that the alcohol is not unclean.
View Sciences Fiqh Concerning Alcoholic Drug, Shaykh Muhammad bin
Salih Al Uthaymeen explains, "The few drugs that use a mixture of alcohol,
then it is not illegal as long as the mixture a little and did not appear to
influence."
Medicines containing alcohol is allowed because of the istihlak. What is
meant by mixing istihlak is haram or unclean objects with other objects sacred
and lawful are more numerous and thus eliminating the odious nature of the
prohibition of previously unclean objects, good taste, color and smell.
So a moment of unclean water, can turn into pure when mixed with holy
water that much. Unclean water may not always be in a state of unclean without
change.

Fitting words of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, "Whoever wants to

ponder the arguments that have been agreed upon and understand the secret of
shari'ah law, will undoubtedly clear to him that this is a more precise opinion.
Highly unlikely that any water or liquid that might not be a sacred change
(remains unclean). This is really contrary to the arguments and common sense.
At the same istihlak for reasons other than as described above, drugs
containing alcohol is allowed because god (cause) as on khomr no longer exists,
which is intoxicating. Though the law evolves according to the presence or
absence of god (cause).

From hadist
"Something that is when many intoxicating, then drank at least assessed
forbidden." So from here there are some who say that there is alcohol in this
medicine a certain percentage, then it is forbidden for consumption.
We say that a statement such as this arise, because the lack of understanding
among the above hadith. Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen said, "They thought that the
meaning of the hadith is that if a little khomr mixed with beverages other than
khomr, then the drink become forbidden. This is not the meaning of the hadith
above. But the actual meaning of the hadith is that if something has been taken
in large quantities intoxicating, so if taken in small amounts still considered
illegitimate. while that of the drugs is not.
2. Suggestion
As a workaround, we recommend using herbal remedies, which are known not to need
alcohol in dissolving the active substances, but may use water as a solvent. Herbal cough
remedies derived from natural materials is basically harmless, and in terms of kehalalannya
are more verifiable. This is a more secure solution.
As did the results of the meeting of the MUI Commission in 2001 concluded that liquor is a
drink containing alcohol for a minimum of 1% (one percent). [15] so to prudence, we suggest
to leave the alcoholic drug if the content of alkoholnya in the top 1%.
So a bit of a discussion about an alcoholic like cough medicine. May be useful.
