Established in 2011, combining the Graduate Institute of


Folk Culture & Arts and the Graduate Institute of Architecture & Historic Preservation, the GIACH is an interdisciplinary institute that focuses on the study of architecture history and tangible/ intangible cultural heritage. It
also aims to cultivate expertise with international/local
vision on theory/ practice in the aforesaid fields.
Curriculum Structure
The curriculum includes required courses and elective
courses divided into two divisions:
1) Architecture & Tangible Cultural Heritage and
2) Intangible Cultural Heritage Students are required to
take at least 15 credits from each division

Established in 2000, it is the first graduate institute that
combines art activities and management, with courses in
both theory and practice. It aims to train professional
administrators and managers in arts organizations.

Co-founded by TNUA and the National Museum of


Natural Science in 2005, the GIMS aims to build up
students profession on research and planning of museum
exhibitions and educational programs, while emphasizing
reflection upon museum development. Our research is
cross-disciplinary with global perspectives and our goal is
to become the leading institute of museum studies in Asia.
Curriculum Structure
The curriculum includes required courses (Research
Methods, History of Museums, Internship and Master
Thesis) and optional courses of 3 categories: Museum
Comparative Studies, Museum Interpretation and Communication, and Museum Practice. Students are required
to take at least two courses in each category.

The GIAHE was established in 2006, with its additional
graduate program for in-service educators initiated in
2014. Our educational mission is to bridge the gap
between theories and praxis of arts education, with goals
on cultivating social-caring arts educators and equipping
them with global vision. The program also aims to
embody humanistic philosophy and social praxis by
encouraging future arts educators to take part in community service.

IMCCI is the first international master program in


Taiwan with objectives on arts and cultural creative
industries. The program provides courses on research,
practical operations and management, with the support of
diverse and rich resources in TNUA. The program
connects Taiwan experiences in cultural creative industries with the world, and aims to cultivate professional
arts administrators and leaders.
Curriculum Structure
The program focuses on cultivating professionals in the
field of cultural and creative industries, and concentrates
on basic arts literacy courses, with additional courses
covering aspects on Cultural and Creative Industries

Electricity fee is an additional charge based on the amount
used. TWD 3,000 deposit is required and will be refunded
upon withdrawal.
Off-Campus Accommodation :
Off-campus housing is about TWD7,000 or more per
month per person.
In addition to tuition fees and housing costs, living expenses
are estimated to be around TWD7,000 to TWD10,000 per
month. Book expenses vary from course to course. The cost
for books is around TWD6,000 to TWD10,000 per semester.

Before Coming to Taiwan
There are various scholarships offered by different organizations. Please note that admission applications and scholarship
applications are separate. An applicant who receives a scholarship award is NOT guaranteed a TNUA entrance admission,
and vice versa. Applicants must be aware of different deadlines
for scholarships and school admission.

Program in Cultural and Creative Industries.
After Arriving in Taiwan
International students who have finished at least two semesters
of courses achieving outstanding academic or professional
performance and have not received any other scholarship may
apply for TNUA Scholarship. For the application criteria,
please refer to the website of International Exchange Center.
The number of recipients and the amount of rewarded will be
decided by the International Exchange Committee of TNUA.

Resident VISA
Applicable to international students, who wish to stay
in Taiwan for more than 180 days, under the purpose
of studying or an university exchange programs.

Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)
Applicable to a foreign national who obtains Alien
Resident Certificates (ARC) after entering Taiwan by
the inspection of National Immigration Agency with a
valid passport or a valid travel document(s) under the
visa waiver program, or holding a visitor visa.
A foreign national who enters with a residency visa,
shall apply for an ARC within 15 days after entry into
Taiwan.
The National Immigration Agency will issue a valid
ARC for one year. A foreign national should renew
his/her ARC before expiration.

Transportation
From Taoyuan International Airport: shuttle buses no.
1819, 1961 directly to the Taipei Main Station are
available at both Terminal 1 and 2.Take the Tamsui
Line (Red Line) and get off at Guandu Station.
MRT: the MRT runs from 6:00-24:00, please refer to
the Taipei Metro Website
Bus: TNUA shuttle bus and city bus (red35/ red 55)
are available at exit 1. Please refer to the univer
sity website for timetable.
University Bookstore
The TNUA Arts Bookstore was the first bookstore to
be established and managed by a university in Taiwan,
and was opened to the public in 2003. It offers mainly
books on arts, as well as on literature and social
science. There is also an audio-video station at
the music section.

Dinning Venue
The University offers various choices of delicacies, in
accompany of the universitys nature scenery and breathtaking views of Taipei City.
LUGUO Caf: located on the second floor of the
Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, LUGUO Caf, it offers

TNUA Caf: offers outdoor seating where the beautiful
nature of Guandu plain creates an ultimate experience

Living in Taipei
Taiwan
Taiwan occupies a total area of about 3.6 square kilometers (14,4000 square miles). It is located in the southeast
of China, the north of the Philippine island of Luzon, and
the south of Japan; making it a crossroad in Asia.

Art and performances


Taipei also offers a rich content of art life. One can
participate in the lavish art festivals, watch performances
(including both traditional and modern artistic activities)
and visit museums and art centers.

Taipei
The capital of Taiwan with the highest population density
of the nation. It is a vibrant city with diverse culture,
lively environment, creativity and cultural life. TNUA is
located at the north of Greater Taipei.

Transportation
1.Taipei Metro (MRT):
MRT has seven lines covering the Greater
Taipei. It also provides different type of ticket payment:
Single-journey ticket, 24-hour pass, EasyCard, and etc.
2.Taipei City Bus:
Taipei city bus now has more than 300 lines covering
the Greater Taipei area with an e-bus network system
that allows commuters to get information on bus routes
in the most accurate and fastest way.
3.Taxi:
Taxis are easy to hail with a reasonable price.
Taxi Minimum fare: TWD $70 for the first 1.25KM,
fare above minimum fare: TWD $5 per 250m

Cultural sites
Include historical sites of different cultures of the Japanese, Dutch and Spanish. You can explore different
tradition and religious practice such as Buddism and
Daoism in various temples in Taipei. Also, there are many
museums with wonderful collections and local artefacts
near the university, such as the Tamsui Historical Museum
in Tamsui and the Hot Spring Museum in Beitou.
Delicacies and nightlife
Taipei complies delicacies from different Chinese dialect
groups, including Hakka and Cantonese cuisine. The
nightlife in Taipei rivals that of any international city, with
a great choice of bars, live houses and nightclubs; adding
to the vitality is the unique night markets that offer tasty
dishes from different regions of the country.
