The Yellapragada SubbaRow Award for 2015 Instituted by

Nellore based Dr.Yellapradada Subbarow Foundation was
presented to Shri K.I.Varaprasad Reddy,Founder and
Chairman,Shantha Biotechnics Ltd by Dr.Ch. Mohan
Rao,Director,Centre for Cellular and Molecular
Biology.Hyderabad at a function organized on Saturday at
Narayana Medical College and Hospital,Nellore.
Welconming the gathering Dr.A.Jagadeesh,Chairman of
the Foundation gave genesis of the Award and described
Dr.Subbarow as Man of Miracle Dugs and quoted "You've
probably never heard of Dr. Yellapragada Subbarao. Yet
because he lived you may be alive and are well today.
Because he lived you may live longer- Doron K. Antrim.
Such was the greatness of Medical Scientist as inventor
of life saving drugs. He achieved greatness by
imagination, self-confidence, love of fellow humans, and
an inner compulsion to alleviate human suffering said

Dr.Jagadeesh. Dr.Jagadeesh described the aims and

activities of the Foundation and informed that the
Foundation is identifying the traditional medical practices
in vogue in villages and bringing them to the attention of
Scientific Laboratories out study and synthesis.
In hs presidential Address Dr.Ch.Mohan
Rao,Director,CCMB described Dr.Subbarow as a versatile
Genius in bringing out number of Inventions related to
Medical field in such a short period. Citing the Example of
Lederlie Laboratories,US, recognition of the great
services of Dr.Subbarow by having a statue, Our
Government should also have a fitting memory for the
great Medical Scientist.
Dr.A.Jagadeesh read out Citation on the Yellapragada
Subbarow 2015 Award. The Award was presented to Shri
K.I.Varaprasad Reddy by Dr.Ch.Mohan Rao.

In his Acceptance speech and delivering the 2nd

Dr.Yellapragada Subbarow Memorial Lecture Shri
Varaprasad Reddy dealt at length the life and
contributions of Dr.SubbaRow. Dr.Subbarow is a role
model for future Doctors and the Medical Students should
get inspiration in achieving higher goals in life.
Smt.Shobha Sankaran, Niece of Dr.Yellapragada
SubbaRow described Dr.Yellapragada as Peoples Doctor
and Inventor of many Life Saving Drugs.

The Foundation honoured the Chief Guest Dr.Ch.Mohan

Rao, Guest of Honour Dr.G.Subrahmanyam(Cardiologist
and Research Director, Narayana Group of Medical
Institutions) and Smt. Shobja Sankaran.
Dr.M.Subrahmanyam,Secretary of the Foundation
conducted the proceedings.
