Hillsborough Township
Department of Parks and Recreation
Serving the residents of Hillsborough and
Flagtown, Hillsborough Township's
Department of Parks and Recreation
maintains 19 parks and athletic facilities
and offers recreational programing for
residents of all ages and abilities.
Recreational opportunities are endless in
Hillsborough. Each park offers unique facilities
and has its own feel. From active pursuits such
as basketball, soccer, and jogging, to more
lesiurely pursuits such as birdwatching, there is
something for everyone at a Hillsborough park.
Of the over 10,000 preserved acres within in the
township, parks play a vital role to allow
residents to explore nature, learn new hobbies,
care for our environment, and be healthier.

Explore Our Parks and Facilities

Facilities maintained by the Department offer a
variety of opportunities to satisify nearly all
recreational interests.

Ann Van Middlesworth Park in the center of

town features softball and baseball fields, a skate
park, a picnic area, basketball courts, fishing
pond, and a Universal playground, with over 27
ADA accessible
play components.
AVM Park is
always full of
activity.
From bucolic

hiking trails at Otto's Farm Park where

residents can explore nature and
wildlife, and Singley Park, a
recreational paradise set in the hills of
the western end of the township, to
Docherty Park with lighted softball
fields on the northern side of town,
Hillsborough's parks are numerous, and
always close to home waiting to provide
residents an opportunity to get outside,
play, be active, and no matter the
passion or pursuit.

Play and Participate in Programs

The Department offers year-round
recreational programming for residents
of all ages and abilities.
Children as young as four years old can
start participating in the tiny sport
series, a variety of different classes teaching the
fundamentals of various sports, all while
emphasising fun.
Basketball, soccer, volleyball, golf, and tennis
classes are offered at certain times during the
year for children looking to learn a new sport,
or continuing to improve their skills in a sport
they already love.
Youth soccer leagues fill the fields in the spring
and fall, while girls softball leagues are in the
spring, and basketball leagues are held indoors
in the winter and outdoors in the
summer.
There are

also programs
for adults,
including open
gyms for
basketball and
volleyball.

Join Us for Special Events

The fun doesn't just stop at parks and programs.
Each spring runners and walkers
participate in the Run Around the
Park 5k, held at Ann Van
Middlesworth Park. Veterans and
community groups honor our
nation's soldiers at the Memorial Day
Parade and Ceremony at the Garden
of Honor.
The town gathers each summer for
the Independence Day Celebration
with family fun and fireworks. Family fun
continues in the summer with the Family
Campout and David Thomas Memorial
Fishing Derby.
Children dress up in their costumes for the
Halloween Party
in October and
can meet Santa
at the Christmas
Tree Lighting
each December.
