The Centre of Excellence in Disaster
Mitigation and Management, Indian
Institute of Technology, Roorkee is
organizing a Research Conference on
“Disaster Mitigation in Housing in India: an
Agenda for Future”. The Research
Conference, a year-long initiative, is the
culmination of the previous seminar
activities: “Housing and Disaster Mitigation
Efforts in India: Case Studies” and
“Research activities in Disaster Mitigation
for Housing in India” held during 18th April,
2009 and 22nd -23rd August, 2009
respectively.
The First seminar focused on experiences of
disaster mitigation efforts in housing and
helped to record the past and present
mitigation efforts, while the Second aimed
at bringing researchers on a common
discussion platform to disseminate their
research experiences. The proposed
Research Conference on Disaster
Mitigation in Housing is being held to
summarize the above efforts, and to
develop streamlined research and action
programme for Disaster Mitigation in
Housing in India for 21st Century. This would
enhance research and extension potential
in disaster resistant housing environment
development in India.
CALL FOR TECHNICAL PAPERS:
Papers are being invited from subject
experts in the relevant areas. Authors who
wish to contribute paper(s) related to any
of the theme(s) mentioned are requested
to send full-length paper to Dr. Mahua
Mukherjee, The Organizing Secretary,

HOW TO REACH ROORKEE NATIONAL RESEARCH CONFERENCE
ON
Roorkee Town is situated about 30 Km south
of the Himalayan range and lies in the DISASTER MITIGATION IN HOUSING
district of Haridwar of Uttarakhand State. It IN INDIA :
