Renewable sources of energy are the most effective way of solving the problem of energy

shortages
Renewable are popular and wild spread talking nowadays, This essay is going to argue
about how to solving problem about shortage of energy. Even though the renewable energy could
produce energy and most of the people support this, There are some arguing about limitations of
the renewable energy.
In term of sustainable , Carolyn, J.(201X) believe that renewable energy source could
found anywhere and not depleted which is more effective way to solving energy shortage . But,
the renewable energy is difficult to generate the quantities of electricity and will not solving the
energy shortage problems. To clarify this we should look into the main energy sources of most of
country in the world which is still fossil fuels. For example, In Thailand to compare the
qualitative between renewable energy and non-renewable energy, on the biggest energy provider
Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Public Company (2014, pp.37-38) reported that the
total fossil fuels produced in 2013 is 4,834 MWatts. And the renewable energy produced in the
same year is 102.45 MWatts. Which renewable energy is only about 2% of the non-renewable
energy , So it is logical that renewable energy cannot solving this problem, It just an alternative
way to produce energy. Even though the government subsidize energy provider on renewable
energy, Most of the company still cannot take as much profit as fossil fuels does.
The another argument we have seen a lot is renewable energy only release a little or no
greenhouse gas emission, But the toxic substances from producing wind turbines, solar cells
should be considered . We should examine the process of producing the sources of renewable
energy for instance, to produce the wind turbine we have to use about 2 tons of neodymium
Parry, S. and Douglas, E. (2011) define that to extract neodymium it produce a lot of toxic waste
and in Baotou 7 million tons of these left over chemical are dumping on the ground every year.
Not only these waste damaged respiratory organs to the villager nearby but the rate of skin
cancer, child with soft bones and hair turned white at young age is rocketed up .Furthermore ,
these toxic lake devastated their farmland some farmers can no longer do their jobs which cause
many consequence problems. Even if we install the wind turbine in some area the population of
bird in that area is devastatingly decrease, because the wind turbine make a lot of noise and

disturb most of the poultry. So this topic should be considered if you claim that renewable energy
is 100 percent clean and problems- free.
Last, but not least argument is about economic benefit, many scientists provided that cost
of producing energy form renewable source is cheaper. That fact is true but we should not
overlook the initial cost to produce the renewable energy sources is very high compare to fossil
fuels. Moreover, the renewable energy is not reliable, For example, solar energy cannot produce
any energy at night and wind turbine have to place in specific area where it windy. So these two
main reasons persuade the energy provider to calculate the whole cost of these alternative energy
to use more non-renewable energy. Although government in many country subsidize many
company to motivated them to produce energy from renewable sources, Not many company
plan to increase the rate of renewable energy production in the next few years.
To conclude this, there are advantages and disadvantages of both renewable energy and
non-renewable energy, But at this moment it might be too fast to replace the fossil fuels with
renewable energy because the quantities of them is minute compare to fossil fuels . And release a
lot of toxic substances that cannot be recycled which is the major problem, But in the near future
the initial cost of renewable energy will lower which predispose the energy provider the increase
the rate of producing energy from renewable energy to be more efficiently, and someone might
find the better way to refine neodymium to reduce toxic substances, so the main resource of
energy might come from renewable energy in the future.
