Automatic Genset Controller, AGC-4

Application modes
Island mode plant with synchronising gensets or stand-alone generator
Automatic mains failure/ATS critical power/emergency standby plants
Fixed power/base load plant with fixed kW setpoint (incl. building load)
Peak shaving plant where generator supplies peak demand
Load take over mode where load is transferred from mains to generator
Mains power export plant with fixed kW setpoint (excl. building load)
Remote maintenance safe maintenance at transformer substations

Remote communication and control

The AGC-4 supports serial communication protocols including Modbus (RS
485, USB, and TCP/IP) and Profibus. This feature allows you to supervise and
control your genset/plant from a remote location and minimise downtime or
take immediate action on genset alarms or warnings.

USW-3 configuration & supervision software

Plant overview. A graphic overview of the plan in terms of breaker status,
genset status, current power etc. with ability to target single gensets in mega
plants to retrieve alarm status or similar.
Plant settings. Parameters are password-protected and grouped according
to usage. Batch functions to read/write all controller settings and counters,
including produced power, accumulated breaker options, etc.
Emulation. Safe pre-installation test tool for plant design and setup with
protections etc. Also indispensible for FAT test of critical applications.
Engine & genset data. Read-out of engine data values retrieved over
J1939, e.g. fuel rate.
M-Logic. Configuration and evaluation of up to 40 logic expressions enable
even complex logic customisation.
Application configuration. Graphical tool for plant layout design.

Automatic Genset Controller, AGC-4

Market-leading all-round controller

DEIFs Automatic Genset Controller (AGC-4) is the most comprehensive and flexible power
management and protection unit on the market today. A further development of DEIFs
AGC-3, the new generation controller is fully compatible with its predecessor and has been
designed to allow for easy, intuitive, and smooth switch-overs for those looking to upgrade.
Suitable for a wide range of applications, the AGC-4s standard sequences include back-up
power, start/stop, synchronisation, and load sharing.
The AGC-4 is simple to incorporate into both new and existing designs, customising the
application to fit your needs, for instance dedicating specific functions or logic conditions to
different inputs and outputs.
Technologically sophisticated, the AGC-4 is also the worlds most robust power management
controller, successfully tested to maintain reliability and durability in extreme weather and
hasardous conditions. Approvals include TV and UL.

Innovative plant management

solutions
Responding to a growing market demand
for temporary and emergency plants
to provide support in cases of seasonal
change, for remote locations with limited
access to distribution, or disaster relief,
DEIF has successfully developed a groundbreaking plant management solution that
can handle up to 256 gensets in one
application.
Lifting genset control from single units
to plant level, enabling advanced control
and protection for large setups from one
central point of intelligence, AGC Plant
Management incorporates plant power
factor control at connection points, scaling,
load profile priorities routines and more.
The innovative system uses the plants
generators to black-start large step-up
transformers with the push of a button:
enter the power setpoint you need and let
the AGC-4 controllers do the rest.
Tried and tested at locations in Africa,
Asia, and South America over the past
three years, AGC-4 Plant Management
Solutions have been developed not just
with an eye for safety but for fuel saving
and optimised maintenance intervals,
introducing fan control, black starts in
both island and fixed power mode, and
asymmetrical load sharing designs to cut
running costs.
