SETUP THE TILES

Page 1.
1.
The Wall Tiling 4D tool needs the ArchiCAD Accessories addon loaded. This is a free download
from the Graphisoft Web Site and can easily be found in your ArchiCAD help menu, "ArchiCAD 12
Goodies"
2.
Once the add-on is downloaded and installed, select the Wall Tiling 4D accessory from the Design
menu/Design Extras/Accessories/Wall Accessories. NOTE: Do NOT select a wall before selecting the
accessory
3.
Setup your material, tile format (for the hotspot location), the pens, Height and reveal depth - if
required. Note that your material needs to have a vectorial hatch assigned and your interior elevations will
need "Vectorial Hatching" turned on to show the line work
If there is a hole in the tiles add a hole
here. Editable hotspots will then
appear allowing you to move the hole
to the required position

Overall tile height

Enter your tile height and width here.

This is required for the tile origin
hotspot location
Reveal Depth

4.
Insert the Wall Tiles in a clockwise
motion, then when finished, double click and
click on the visible side (eye cursor)
5.
Note that the tiling is place on the floor
according to current default base height of the
ArchiCAD wall tool. So if you need to create tiles
at bench height, set the height of the wall tool to
your bench height before you begin. (strange but
true)

To create another corner stretch the

left hand hotspot that says "Move
Node" and move it to a postion that
you want another corner. New central
hotspots will appear that allow you to
create more and more corners

The tile origin hotspot can be moved

to setout the tiles from a different
position.

To create tiled reveals into say a

window, rotate the hotspot until it says
"REVEAL" this will create a reveal from
node to node at the depth set in the 4D
Wall Tiling parameters (see first page).
If you keep rotating the hotspot the
option will change to "No Edge Line"
This will remove the edge line so the
tiles can create seemless joins with one
another

The Finished Product
Import the 4D Wall Tiling Schedule
into your element schedule to create
the schedule shown here on the right.
Tiles are grouped by zone name then
the material is listed, area of the tiled
section followed by the total area of
tiles. Note that this schedule can
easily be exported as and Excel
spreadsheet for further editing

3D Room layouts, complete with tiling are now so much

easier with the 4D Wall tiling accessory. This new tool
complements perfectly the new 3D Document function in
ArchiCAD 12. Allowing for more accurate, true to life layouts
