Bad Weather
Remember: If school is closed for bad weather,
all students are responsible for keeping up with
assignments on Blackboard. Even if school is
closed, the assignments are due for class. Also,
you should update your contact information on
Eagle Alert at my.unt.edu. When UNT is closed
for bad weather, Eagle Alert will send you an
email, a text message, or a phone call before you
leave for class. If you sign up for Eagle Alert,
you will know immediately when UNT is closed.

Smoke-Free Campus

UNT is a smoke-free campus. No one will be allowed to

smoke on campus, including in buildings, on the sidewalk,
and in the parking lots. You are allowed to smoke across the
street of UNTs campus or in your closed car on campus.
This means you cannot smoke outside of SYMR or MARQ
between classes.

Policies

In response to suggestions from students and instructors, we have two policies for passing CM and
WR classes:
1 Policy 1: If a student has a final score of 70% or higher at the end of the term, he will pass the

class.
2 Policy 2:

- Communication: If a student has a score of 75% or higher on both the reading final

exam and the listening final exam and he has a 70%+ average on the in-class

vocabulary and speaking test at the end of the term, he will pass the class.

- Writing: If a student has a score of 75% or higher on both the final composition and

the final grammar exam (research paper in Level 6) and he has a 70%+ average on the

in-class homework grades at the end of the term, he will pass the class.

Communication Competency Program

The Speech and Hearing Center is offering a Communication Competency Program to reduce the use
of an accent. The program includes small group activities to address communication difficulties often
experienced by non-native speakers (articulation, understanding language in different contexts, and
functional use of grammar/vocabulary). If you are interested, you can contact the UNT Speech and
Hearing Center at 940-565-2262.

Restaurant Night

Thursday, January 29 at 5:30 we will be going to Layalina Mediterranean Restaurant. Bring money
for food and ride with a friend or contact Jessalyn Freeman for a ride.
