Thisyear25TableauxwillparticipateintheforthcomingRepublicDayParade2015whereIndiawillshowcaseits
militarymight,variedculturaldiversity,developmentinScienceandTechnologyandeconomicstrength.Thisyearstableaux
component comprises 16 States and nine Union Ministries / Departments. Each tableau depicts its own story to portray
themesrangingfromHeritage,Culture,Art&Crafts,Biotechnology,SustainableAgricultureandEnvironment.

Makara Sankranti festival of Andhra begins with Bhogi which people

celebratewithbonfiresinfrontoftheirhomes.Farmersoffernewclothes,giftsand
ashareofharvesttotheirworkers,traditionalartists.
StreetsaredecoratedwithcolourfulRangolisusingriceflourandinthe
middle Gobbemmas (cow dung balls) with flowers are placed and the young
girlssinganddancearoundit.
Coastal Goa traditionally flourished on fish economy, the cultural
character being fisherman (Ramponkar) who catches the variety of fishes and
fisherwomen(Nustekann)takesthecatchtothemarketforsale.BeitCrab(Kurli),
Kingfish(Viswan),Redsnapper(Tamso),Mackrel(Bangdo),Prawns(Sungta)
thelistislong.Thefishcatchingmethodsarevaried,rightfromfishnet(Rampon),
big and small fishing boats to angling. Fishing is also a popular recreational
activityforyoungandenthusiastinGoa.
Held a week before Holi in the pleasant spring season in areas
predominantly inhabited by Bhil tribe the Bhagoria Haat or Bhagoria Festival
affordstheyoungboysandgirlsanopportunitytochoosetheirlifemates.Atthe
festival disputes are also resolved by Panchayat through conciliation, get
togethers are held and festival purchasing is also made. However, of late
Bhagoriahasbecomesynonymouswithmatchmaking.ThemembersofBhiland
Bhilalatribesparticipateinthefestivalwithgreatenthusiasm.Heldintribalareas
of Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh the Bhagoria festival has now become
globallyfamous.
The Kedarnath temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva.
Kedarnath has special significance because of mythological importance of
ChardhaminDevbhoomiUttarakhand.ItissaidthatLordShivalivedhereinthe
eraofPandavas.AsthepandavasreachedhereafterMahabharatWar,theywere
supposedtohavefeltregretinfrontofLordShiva,butLordShivadisappeared
from the sight and converted himself into a huge stone. Then pandavas
constructed a temple on this stone, in the 8th century Adi Shankaracharya
reconstructedthistemple.TheheadoftheLordShivawhichisworshipedinthe
KedarnathTempleisintheformofatriangularstonewhichis6feetinlengthand
3feetinheight,isplacedonahighplatform.Heightofthetempleisabout66feet.

The village is noted for a large number of temples, originally 108 of

which72arestanding.Itsuniquenessliesinthefactthatitdisplaysasynthesisof
three great currents of Indian religious traditions Shakti, Shaiva and Buddhist
ways of realising the Absolute all three being syncretised in the presiding
goddessDeviMaulikshainthe17centuryAD.
Large Cardamom (Amonum subulatum Roxb) a member of the crop
cultivated in the subHimalayan state of Sikkim is one of the main cash crops
cultivatedinSikkimandSikkimisthelargestproducerconstitutingalionshareof
Indianandworldmarket.ItispurelyanorganiccropcultivatedinSikkim.
The large Cardamom plant is a perennial herb with subterranean
rhizomeswithleafyshoots.Generally,30to40flowersareobservedinaspike.
LargeCardamomiscultivatedinanareaofabout23,082hectaresinSikkimwith
yieldingareaof17,406hectares.
HerecomestheBonaaluTableau,thenewlybornstateofTelangana
withMahankali,thedivinemothergoddessoftheregion.The29thstateof India
formed on 2nd June, 2014. This region is instantly recognized with its world
famous Capital city of Hyderabad, a cosmopolitan city with right mixture of
modernityandageoldcustomsandtraditions.Ifyoustartstrollinginthestreetsof
Hyderabad at any given time, the next moment you would be drenched in the
gloryof400yearsofitsmomentouschanges.
Bonaaluistheillustriousfestivalofthestate,particularlyatHyderabad
celebratetoworshipMahankaliGoddessinthemonthofAshada,whichnormally

WajidAliShahwasthetenthandlastNawabofAwadhprovincethatis
UttarPradeshofpresenttime.In1847,WajidAliShahwascrownedasNawabof
AwadhandheruledoverAwadhfornineyears.Hewasalsoapoet,playwright
anddancerofextraordinarycaliber.Heisalsorenownedforpatronizingfinearts.
Being a Godgifted musician, he allowed the music, dance, theatre and poetry
flourishinhiscourt.HewastrainedinvocalmusicbyseveralrenownedUstadsof
thetime.ItisbelievedthatitwasWajidAliShahwhocomposedRaagslikeJogi
andShahPasand.

FolkDances

JammuandKashmirStateisfamousnotonlyforitsscenicbeautybut
also for its traditional dances. These traditional dances reflect rich musical
heritageandculturallegacyoftheStatereflectingthevariegatedregionalculture
besidesthesetraditionalfolkdancesofthestatebearsrelictotherichcultural
ancestry. People not only continue to cherish these age old traditions, but
celebratetheirfestivitieswithanumberoffolkdances.Thefolkdancesandmusic
of the State form an important part of the culture. The folk dances which are
differentinformsandnatureinLadakh,KashmirandJammuregionsthough,yet
giveaspectrumofonenesstheproverbialUnityinDiversity.

Sultanpur National Park is a bird paradise for bird watchers. Park is

famousforitsmigratoryaswellasresidentbirds.Migratoryspeciesreachhere

While Aalandi was the core sphere for the spiritual activities of Saint
Dyaneshvar,PandharpuristheholysitewherestandstheshrineofGodVithoba
revered by millions of devotees from the state of Maharashtra, Karnatak and
AndhraPradesh devotees not only from Aalandi but from different areas of the
Statewalkjoyouslywithdevotionalongwithtalanquinsofdifferentsaintschant
religioussongs(Abhang).
The Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had built United India by
combining 562 native states together. To pay tribute to such an entity, worlds
largeststatuehavingheightof182metersStatueofUnityisbeingerectedinthe
frontofSardarSarovarintheriverNarmada.Thereplicaofthesameisshownin
thefrontsideoftableauinwhichtheExhibitionHall,AquariumandConference
Hallisbeingdisplayed.
Inthecenterofthetableaux,thereisshownfarmthrashingfloorwaving
through water irrigation and four couples in cheerful gesture representing four
states Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh which are
benefittedbySardarSarovarWaterIrrigation.
TheMakeinIndiatableaudepictsamechanizedLion,setagainstthe
backdropofasmartcity.Themessageisclear:Indiahasthestrengthofpurpose,
resources, partnerships and the momentum required to transform into a global
manufacturing hub. The front part of the tableau is showcasing the lion logo
depictingthevarioussectorsidentifiedforinvestment.
The year CPWD Floral Tableaux is depicting Gaumukh a beautiful
landscapeofNorthIndia.GaumukhiswherethewatersofGangaTrickledown
fromtheglaciers.ThesagescalleditGaumukh.

Gaumukhforthepanoramicviewandlovelycleanair.Theholyglacier
hasmuchtooffer than just its religious significance Gaumukh. The source of
Gangas is one of the most spectacular sights in the Himalayan region. The

AYUSH is an acronym for the Indian Systems of medicine and
homeopathy and includes Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and
