Transit Check
A Transit Check qualified person shall complete the following at AUH & applicable stations:

Description of Tasks

Arrival Checks
Confirm the quantities of the engine oil, hydraulics and oxygen are within acceptable amounts using
ECAM. Contact MCC if required.
NOTE: In case servicing of fluid is performed, a re-inspection should be carried out to re-check that the
filler cap is securely locked and fastened. All fluid uplifts should be recorded in the Tech Log
page
Check Technical & Cabin Logs to ensure that the intended flight is not adversely affected by any new
outstanding deferred defect. Aircraft shall not depart with any open defect which had not been actioned
and deferred accordingly
Ensure ramp area is clear of debris

Verify that MLG & NLG chocks are installed as required.

1.5

At AUH only, if ground time is more than 3 hours or under sandy condition, install protective covers on
TAT sensors, Pitot probes, Ice detection probes, AOA Sensors and Static probes. Record the installation
of the covers in the Aircraft Technical Log.
At OUT STATIONS if ground time is more than 3 hours, contact MCC for installation of Pitot Covers.
Ensure that the installation of covers is recorded in Aircraft Technical Log
Exterior Checks

Carry out an aircraft walk around check for evidence of obvious damage which may have occurred
during the previous flight with attention to:
Impacts and FOD
Static ports, TAT, Pitot/Static probes and Angle of Attack vanes
Missing or loose parts (Ensure no Fasteners /Screws are missing from Wing Leading Edge Panels,
Belly Fairings and Pylon Panels)

2.2

Check Undercarriage for obvious leaks or damage.

2.3

Check brake units for evidence of overheating or leaks, MLG and NLG shock absorbers for normal
extension, wheels for condition (rim damage, sheared/missing tie-bolts) tyres for wear, damage and
evidence of under- inflation

2.4

RVSM Checks:
Visually check to make sure that there is no impact damage on the fuselage skin in areas
EIGHT inches around and on the three AOA sensors, the three pitot probes and the six static ports.

2.5

Check the fuselage for damage.

2.6

Check the fuselage in the areas of the drain masts for fluid leaks.

2.7

Check condition of Aileron, Elevator and Rudder for damage and signs of hydraulic fluid leakage.

2.8

Check overpressure discharge discs on the oxygen system, APU fire extinguishing system.

2.9

Check engine cowlings, pylons, intake and exhaust (including all blades and vanes) areas for any signs
of damage or leaks. Confirm there is no fluid leakage from the drain masts and the engine cowlings are
closed and latches securely locked.

2.10

Inspect vertical and horizontal stabilizer for obvious damage and tail strike damage.

2.11

Confirm that all flight control surfaces, intake and exhaust ports are clear from any contamination and
obstacles.

2.12

Ensure fuel uplift is of correct specification and correctly recorded.

Passenger Cabin Checks (to be assisted by Manager/Cabin senior)

3.1.1 Ensure potable water system is serviced as required.


3.1.2 Ensure Toilet/Waste system is serviced as required.

3.2

Ensure CIDS caution light on the forward attendant panel is not on.

Passenger Cabin Checks (to be assisted by Manager/Cabin senior) contd,.

3.3

Ensure that the passenger compartment including the lavatories and galleys are in a clean and
presentable condition

3.4

Ensure that the toilet waste bins have been emptied, waste bin compartment doors are securely closed
and waste disposal slot flaps are operating correctly.

Ensure that the cabin transit check is carried out as per Form ETD/CAB/022

4.1

Departure Checks
Confirm all Doors and service panels are properly closed and secured. (ECAM & Ground Crew)

4.2

If De-icing required arrangements must be made for the procedure. Co-ordinate with local Ground
Handling Staff.

4.3

Confirm that control surfaces and landing gear locks and steering bypass pins, pitot/static covers,
restraint devices and engine/aperture blanks have been removed.

4.4

Sign off Transit Check in Tech Log book
