ADCs OmniReach Rapid Fiber Distribution
Terminal serves as the final distribution point
between the iFDH and living unit. It eliminates the
need for splice cases and separate cable assemblies
by integrating the patent-pending RapidReel
cable payout system. The RapidReel system
includes a built-in reel enabling quick payoff of up
to 500 feet of MT stubbed 12 or 24 count optical
fiber cable from a single 6"x9" wall box. The MT
stub is pulled for installation into either the MDU
Collector Enclosure or directly to an iFDH equipped
with an MT patch panel. After installation the
spool flanges can be broken away and the wall box
is secured to the wall safely storing the remaining
slack cable. Use of factory terminated and tested
MT connectors instead of splicing provide a Plugand-Play environment that reduces labor costs and
speeds project completion.

OmniReach FTTP Solutions

ADCs new OmniReach Fiber Splitter Box
(FSB) enables customers to accelerate their
FTTX deployments more effectively and is an
ideal solution when deploying FTTX networks
in non-residential Multiple Tenant Unit (MTU)
and residential Multiple Dwelling Unit (MDU)
applications.

Outside Plant Fiber and Copper Solutions

These wall boxes provide a small footprint

for splitting, splicing and terminating and are
environmentally rated for indoor or outdoor use.
Available in three sizes, each box is equipped with
a 12-fiber splice tray allowing for an input splicing
option. FSBs accept standard Plug-and-Play (PNP)
splitters (same as in the Fiber Distribution Hub
3000 or FDH 3000) and splitters can be easily
added after the wall box has been installed. FSBs
accommodate 1x4, 1x8, 1x16 and 1x32 splitters;
up to 72 fibers.
FSBs offer increased efficiency within distinct
FTTX network applications. Featuring a compact
solution for wall mounting, these boxes provide
a significant space savings while maintaining
hand access to connectors. The unique swing
frame design also allows for easy access to the
back section of the wall box. For use in MTUs, as
well as garden style, mid-rise and high-rise MDU
buildings, FSBs allow for a de-centralized MDUONT (Optical Network Termination) architecture
and offer an economical solution for MTU/MDU
applications where a larger sized FDH is not
economical, i.e. strip malls and rural areas.

The Outdoor Fiber Distribution Terminal 24

(oFDT-24) is designed to terminate, splice and
interconnect fiber optic cables in an outdoor
environment. This terminal may be adapted to
Fiber-to-The-Premise (FTTP) Multiple Dwelling
Unit (MDU) applications and is particularly suited
for garden style MDU buildings. The enclosure is
mounted to the exterior surface of a dwelling and
connects the distribution cable and drops routed to
individual living units. The cables meet at a central
connector field that includes termination for the
distribution cable and parking for the drop cables.
The cabinet may be configured with splice trays for
splicing the cable to connector pigtails. The oFDT24 may be pre-terminated on the distribution side
with outside plant cable stubs so that the unit is
quickly connected to the plant. The oFDT-24 may
also be pre-wired with pigtails on the drop side so
that individual drops routed into the unit can be
spliced to the connectorized pigtails.
The oFDT-24 features a unique swing frame
type design that separates the splicing in the rear
from the patch access in the front of the swing
frame. It allows for easy connector access to the
rear connectors for maintenance and cleaning.
This approach allows for a single door sealing
method, ensuring reliability to withstand longterm outdoor conditions.
The unit accommodates a variety of OSP cable
types via sealed grommet entry. Cables are secured
with standard grip clamps to provide required pull
out strength. The enclosure provides grounding for
metallic members and for the cabinet.
The oFDT-24 product accommodates 6, 12,
or 24 living units. Distribution cable fibers are
terminated on standard SC/APC adapters that
are easily accessible for service connection and
maintenance. Drop pigtails are initially terminated
on parking adapters adjacent to the distribution
termination adapters and staged at the parking
positions until the living units request service.
Moving the drop pigtails from the parking
position to the assigned distribution fiber allows
for easy service connections.

The new oFDT-24 design allows for micro-ducts

to enter into the back of the oFDT box. The 8" x
3" oval cut-out on the right side of the back wall
allows the installer to locate the oFDT right over
the micro-ducts exiting the building. This feature
eliminates the need for the transitional NEMA
box used to transition from the micro-duct exit
location into the oFDT. This new feature offers
cost, labor, and aesthetic benefits to the MDU
building owners over the current installation
method. When not used, the oval cut-out can be
covered with the provided gasketed plate. There
is also a knock-out hole in the bottom of the
cabinet to accommodate every type of installation
application.

RealFlex MDU Drop Cables

ADCs new RealFlex MDU Drop Cables are

an ideal solution for the unique challenges
encountered when deploying FTTX networks in
todays Multiple Dwelling Unit or MDU buildings.
RealFlex MDU Drop Cables are offered in Indoor/
Outdoor, Riser and Plenum cable types making
them suitable for all types of MDU structures.
RealFlex MDU Drop Cables allow for a bend
radius as small as 7.5 mm without changing
attenuation characteristics of the cable and
improve insertion loss (IL) performance for 90
degree bend locations. With the average MDU
installation including as many as seven 90 degree
turns, this new fiber greatly reduces the risk to
bend induced IL during installation. In addition
to the improved bend radius performance, the
rugged 3mm cable construction provides the
flexibility and durability to withstand the most
demanding applications.
The rugged 3 mm indoor/outdoor cable can be
stapled*, allowing for fast and easy securing of
cables to most surfaces. The reduced bend radius
glass allows the technician to staple around
tight corners without compromising insertion loss
performance.
ADCs RealFlex MDU Drop Cables provide for
quick and easy deployments with increased
reliability which allow for fast service turn-up,
improved network reach and lower overall
network operating and maintenance costs.
*ADC approved staplers and staples.

Typical Applications:
Garden or horizontal; indoor/outdoor cable
used to transition from an outdoor fiber
distribution terminal to each indoor living unit
Mid or high-rise; all three cable types can
be used to transfer from an indoor fiber
distribution terminal to each individual living
unit within a building
Indoor/outdoor and riser cables are suitable
for all OFNR applications; OFNP applications
will require plenum cable

HighBand 10
Termination Block

HighBand 10 preterminated blocks are wired to industry standard 25-pair Telco connectors that
are mounted in the rear of the back mount frame, allowing for fast Broadband/DSL service
installations. The 25-pair connectors are oriented for top feed cable assemblies. These blocks are
available in 100-, 200- or 300-pair configurations.
HighBand 10 field-terminated kits are a flexible solution for custom applications where
preterminated blocks are not ideal.

HighBand 10 Category 5e termination blocks

utilize the silver plated, world renowned LSAPLUS contact principle. This technology has
become the industry standard in over 140
countries. The gas-tight contacts ensure a reliable
and long lasting connection. The frequent
rewiring that occurs in todays deployments can
quickly degrade the quality of wire terminations.
ADC products maintain superior connectivity
during hundreds of re-terminations and deliver
the best electrical performance in the industry.
The HighBand 10 block is available in both
preterminated units and field-terminated kits.
