load to be lifted. Ability to rig a load and use approved and appropriate hand
signals to safely direct a crane operator to lift and transport a load to a
designated lay down area without contacting any obstruction

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

Hardhat, safety glasses with side shields, TVA approved gloves, TVA approved footwear (any additional PPE required by TVA sites, including hearing protection)
Tools and Equipment Required:

Wire rope, synthetic slings, defective and approved rigging hardware, overhead or mobile crane, loads to be rigged and lifted, as identified in this course material
Job Preparation:

Certified Instructor will prepare shop areas/job site for skills exam. Certified Instructor will test each participant independantly and assign a qualified crane
operator, and perform the Person-in-Charge duties. Each participant will be assign one object to rig and lift by the instructor. A Pre-job Briefing and "Two Minute
Rule" will be conducted by each participant prior to making the lift.

erratic movements during lifting exercises.

Configured prior to lift, and select rigging
hardware rated for the loads to be lifted.
(selection of under-rated hardware results in
failure of exam)
