Your goal is to visit, in any order, each of the 7 lettered stations of the
S-Y-S-T-E-M-S EQUATIONS LAB with your partner(s). Complete the work
given there. It is important that you get this lab sheet initialed by the
teacher before moving on to the next station.

Meghan and Kelly own a small bakery that makes fresh cookies daily. They
bake two kinds of cookies plain and chocolate chip. The cookies are sold by
the box, and Meghan and Kelly are confident they can sell all the cookies the
make. But there are two constraints that limit their production today:
DOUGH: One box of plain cookies requires 1 pound of cookie dough.
One box of chocolate chip cookies requires 0.8 pound of cookie dough.
Meghan and Kelly have 80 pounds of dough.
TIME: One box of plain cookies requires 0.10 hour to prepare. One box
of chocolate chip cookies requires 0.20 hour to prepare. Kelly and
Meghan have 14 hours for preparation.
a) Define your variables and write two inequalities to model this situation.

b) Find the x- and y-intercepts to graph the inequalities.

c) If they make $3 on each box of plain cookies and $4 on each box of

chocolate chip cookies, how many of each kind should they make to
maximize their profit? What is the profit? Show or explain how you found
your answer.

1) One number is 14 more than another number. The sum of the two
numbers is 20. Find the numbers.

2) To install a swimming pool, Company A charges $1000 each day plus $75
per hour. Company B charges $1500 each day plus $50 per hour. After how
many hours will the cost be the same?

3) Joe has pigs and chickens on his farm. There are a total of 22 animals.
There is a total of 46 feet. How many pigs and chickens does he have?
