Britco Donates 25 Scholarships to Aboriginal Students

LANGLEY, BC (November 26, 2014) Once again, Britco is partnering with Indspire to
provide First Nation, Inuit, and Mtis students across Canada with financial awards. Increasing
their commitment from donating three scholarships a year, Britco is now funding 25 financial
awards for 2014-2015.
As part of our Building Stronger Communities initiative, one percent of Britcos corporate
profits are directly donated back to the communities we do business in, said Britcos President,
Mike Ridley. Were excited that this initiative enables us to help 25 of Canadas Aboriginal
students with their post-secondary education.
The Britco Award recognizes Indigenous students who demonstrate outstanding personal and
academic achievement pursuing post-secondary education. Student applicants will be assessed
on such factors as leadership, academic record, community involvement and financial need.
Indspire is proud to have our partners at Britco support our Building Brighter Futures
program, said Ken Aucoin, Vice President of Development at Indspire. Its companies like Britco
that make this program possible.
In 2015, the federal government is matching contributions to Indspires financial awards
program. For more information about applying for a Building Brighter Futures bursary,

Indspire is an Indigenous-led registered charity that invests in the education of Indigenous people
for the long term benefit of these individuals, their families and communities, and Canada. With
the support of its funding partners, Indspire disburses financial awards, delivers programs, and
shares resources with the goal of closing the gap in Indigenous education. Through the Indspire
Institute, it provides resources to educators, communities, and other stakeholders who are
committed to improving kindergarten to grade 12 success for Indigenous youth.
Since its inception in 1985, Indspire has disbursed almost $65 million through close to 20,000
scholarships and bursaries to Indigenous students, making it the largest funder of Indigenous
education outside the federal government. Each year, the organization presents the Indspire
Awards, a gala celebration of the successes achieved by Indigenous people that is broadcast
nationally.
