II. Course Objectives

The objectives are::
a. To understand the environmental performance characteristics of buildings.
b. To introduce the fundamentals of large scale environmental control systems design with an
emphasis on new strategies used to solve interesting and challenging human comfort and energy related problems in buildings.
c. To utilize low energy strategies to solve building environmental controls design problems .

III. Course Objectives

Students who successfully complete the course will demonstrate the following outcomes:
1. Demonstrate your understanding of the intent of each assignment as architectural design or
analysis inquiry, using techniques from the course, that lead to intermediate and cumulative
design development results
2.

Develop the use of design alternatives, when applicable, in order to arrive at a design solution,
as a critical skill of flexible design thinking especially in schematic and design development of
a building system solution.

3.

Communicate your design intent and solutions to others in a clear written, graphic, and verbal
manner.

4.

Complete your design and analysis investigation demonstrating proficiency in technical, environmental, and aesthetic issues.
